Re: Sean Miller

Completely agree. Coaching in college comes down to three things in order: 1. Talent/roster 2. Motivation 3. Tactics/ x's and o's The teams with the best players win most of the time. Clearly not all of the time, but to me there are only a handful of difference makers in that category. I have plenty...

Re: Bribery Scandal - FBI Probe - Book Richardson Involved

I just can't understand the optimism here. Miller had an assistant caught on an FBI wiretap funneling multiple players to agents and discussing cash payments for commitments. That's textbook NCAA show cause stuff - in the past, a lot of schools can get "caught" and get off lightly because the NCAA h...

Re: Sean Miller

Isn't this about the ability to compete for championships and not final fours? To me, it has less to do with how many five stars or McD AA we get here vs other schools and more to do with the perception that the talent pool in the west is below the rest of the country. AZ gets the best of the best o...

Re: Ivan Rabb

Berkeley is a fabulous school and it's hard to fault anyone for accepting a free ride there, however short. A lot of "one and dones" really aren't I get that miller really planted the flag and is determined to get the best player in California every year. I don't feel like this really changes anythi...

Re: Wisconsin and the West

We got one of Kaminsky's best games of last year and he's been playing at that level pretty consistently this year. Tarc really struggled, but so did AG. Doubling the post against Wisconsin is problematic because Kaminsky is such a good passer and their perimeter shooting is so good. It will be a to...

Re: Other than Arizona's game..

Really interested in Utah/SFA - Utah has been average away from home, but I love Delon Wright. Going to be close. Wichita/Indiana - WSU's kenpom rating puts them at a four or so, Indiana has worst at large KenPom. Marshall beating Crean and taking his job? UVA/Belmont - UVA's pace is slow enough to ...

Re: Ristic

raw +/- has been dismissed as an irrelevant statistic for a while now. Drtg can be interesting, but as individual stats, they don't tell you much. The NBA is just starting to figure out how to measure individual defensive contributions using SportVu - which means we're a long way off in CBB. If you'...

Re: As usual, shrinking bench

Agree its basically a non-factor in CBB. There is of course a balance coaches have to maintain to get younger players game experience. Also, we have a bench - Ristic, PJC, Pitts all contributors this year. If you want to see a bad bench, look at UCLA. Do people think elite CBB teams go 10 deep (exce...

Defense, Stan and our ability to win the title

I was a rather infrequent poster at the old site - I thought I'd jump in as this community seems to be getting bogged down by a few posters with #hottakes on Miller. I thought we could broaden the discussion a bit to larger topics. Defense! The "eye test" indicates we're not quite the same as last y...
