Re: Conference Realignment
A couple of sportswriters listed our all-time records against future Big XII opponents. Obviously the record is the record, and some people are into snapping the record book shut like it's the Bible and slamming it on the table. But that doesn't tell the whole story when the whole point is to glean ...

Re: UCLA
They had last season's game at the RB on again on Pac-12 last evening. It was slim pickings for sports elsewhere, which I like to have on while in the hot tub time machine. I'm more of a look-ahead person, rather than looking back, but that was enjoyable. Who knows how the last season of the Pac-12 ...

A quick shout-out to the Star and their Arizona Football beat writer Justin Spears. He's continuing Lev's work ethic and approach. Ten years ago and earlier, it seems like it was mostly a case of showing up after practice in time for the coach's comments and Q&A. And other than collecting quotes, it...

Typically twisted, misrepresented, and overstated to make the story better. Before adopting the stage name John Wayne, Marion Morrison (who never legally changed his name), played as a backup tackle for USC in 1925 and 1926. And that was in something called the Pacific Coast Conference, which includ...

Uhh...made the mistake of reading Hansen this morning before my two cups of Pike. Trashes Tucson, the place he's lived for 40 years. Calls it Death Valley; the neighbors must love that. But he only did it for the money. (Yeah, those big-money medium market newspaper guys.) And of course, the Big XII...

Lots of people, like David Kelly (who I just blocked) starting out with "It's a sad day..." God, what absolute bullshit. It's a GREAT new day. Yeah, but few options left in terms of money or visibility. Highly doubtful the Big Ten would make the bad business decision to take Cal and Stanford, even for whatever sliver of the Bay Area TV market they'd deliver. We don't know if they'll keep the name Big XII, or exactly how things will work. At this point, I'm not concerned with any comments made by anybody when circumstances were different. Big XII boards are funny. They're pissed at ASU and Utah dragging their feet and totally happy to cap it at 14 for now, or even take WSU and OSU over them. I'm sure that won't happen, and ASU and Utah will get to vulture in after we did all the heavy lifting. But I don't think we'll have to worry ab...

The best scenario for us right now, assuming we do go to the BIG12, is for the rumor UW, Oregon, Clemson, and FSU are all going to the B1G. That's a nice opportunity for Brian. I'm sure it's mostly indoor practices and life on the road until well into March, but after that, I wouldn't think it would be too bad to play baseball about a mile from Lake Michigan. The new pitching coach, the righty Candiotti from Wichita, and the lefty Telfer from Pepperdine are strong moves. You always welcome more pitchers, but with likely 7 position players gone, like to see a few additions from the portal there, in addition to the incoming high school recruits.
