Re: 2024 Season Thread
That's a good start. Chip no doubt got friendly with DBacks radio guy Tom Candiotti when he was the manager there. Wonder if Tom taught Clark anything about the knuckler? I'd love to see the reaction of college players to that.

Re: 2023 Season Thread
That's a good start. But, I look at our roster, and it looks like we'll be wiped out and almost starting over, unless there's a sudden unexpected influx from the transfer portal. In two years under Hale, we went 2-0 in terms of making the NCAAs, but obviously this year involved a lot of luck. His po...

Well, when he says he's "tight" with Crow, and if ABOR chair Fred DuVal is buds with Crow, and statements are made that the ABOR would make it "expensive" for Arizona to abandon dear old ASU for the Big XII, that sounds like something of a Mafia kiss of death. Particularly with Crow's absolute obses...

If you want to talk about a trap game, how about Rutgers? 3,000 miles away and likely bad weather (cold, at least) in late November. Anybody concerned about Isaiah Rutherford transferring out? I had him penciled-in as a starter. As you would expect, TCU is impressive. In terms of top opponents, in early season tournaments, they beat Vanderbilt and Arkansas and lost to Louisville. It's interesting. You want to have a competitive post-season tournament. You're very fair, and you have the automatic bids to all the conferences, and all the highly rated teams get in. Then you fill-in the rest, using various criteria. Some want it to be very simple and automatic with conference fi...

I look at my informal 2-deep for the defense, and 11 of the 22 were four-year transfers-in at one time or another, with another 4 on the 3rd string. 4 out of 33 on offense. The transfer portal has had an unbelievable impact.

To begin with, anything other than very broad tier academic rankings are false precision. And as to ranking schools overall, you might as well compare apples to toaster ovens. Now Oregon's in the same position we're in: all-out for a guaranteed bid. They swept us in Tucson when we were in the worst of our 5-7 slump. It's kind of a weird format. If I understand it correctly, as the top seeds, either Stanford or Oregon St could go 1-1 and still make the semis, but as an 8-seed, we have no such realistic option, so we have to go 2-0. It's go-for-broke and go 4-0 for the NCAA bid anyway, and nothing else means anyt...
