Re: What's for lunch?
I blended together carp row, soaked breadcrumbs, lemon juice, and olive oil. I formed patties with that and cooked them in the pan, and served them drizzled with a grape juice reduction. They were awful.

This is amazing. I've tried it a couple of times, wow.Longhorned wrote:Grilled cheese with prosciutto sandwich. Using a trick by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt of the Food Lab, buttered and toasted both the inner and outer faces of the bread, and used a Microplane to grate parmiggiano reggiano over the cold butter before grilling to develop a crisp, umami-rich outer crust. Then I set it on the plate and ladled a tomato-soup-like sauce over the sandwich to reinterpret the soup-and-sandwich tradition, inspired by the torta ahogada.
This morning I stuck an over easy egg in the middle. The options are endless.

Yeah, I've never seen pan-fried caviar on a menu.

I was making a Greek fish salad (taramasalata) but I got distracted by a baby task and screwed up the emulsion. I felt so bad about the waste that I took a chance to do something else with that glop. But you just can't save fish egg glop.Chicat wrote:Yeah, I've never seen pan-fried caviar on a menu.

Greatest sandwich in the world: The August tomato sandwich
Heirloom tomato from a farm down the road, salt, pepper, and mayo on white bread.
It's been a hot summer, so the tomatoes are even more amazing than usual

How was that? I've never liked peanut butter and cheese together, which psychologists fashion into poop shapes and fed to children to prove they'll eat anything.scumdevils86 wrote:Thick toasted white bread sandwich filled with sliced dill pickles, pepper jack cheese and creamy peanut butter.

Re: What's for lunch?
It was pretty good. I think in retrospect I'd just make a peanut butter and pickle sandwich but add bacon and a dash or two of hot sauce.

Re: What's for lunch?
To me that chicken looks like it's made with the right chicken. I like mole made with the turkeys that are in Mexico, which are tough. I never really loved chicken mole made with tender fryer chickens. That chicken looks like it has some chew to it, like a real stewing chicken that cooks ups kind of stringy, which would be perfect for stewing in the mole.

Leftover cheese tortellini pasta with Alfredo, cold and with a spoon because our office assistant Tess would rather look at live bird cams in various regions around the world than keep the break room stocked with plasticware.

Let's say it's legitimate to use crap bread and crap turkey loaf cold cuts. It's not a Cuban sandwich if it isn't hot off a sandwich press. It was a sandwich that's been sitting in a refrigerator since it was made the day before.azgreg wrote:What makes a sandwich a Cuban sandwich and was yours actually a PB&J?Longhorned wrote:An American Airlines turkey cuban sandwich
