Pressure cooker

Post by SandwichGuy »

Got an Instant Pot pressure cooker as a gift. I'm pretty stoked about this thing. Anyone use one? Cooking a whole chicken in 20 min among other things is appealing to me. Anybody have any tips or killer recipes?

I got one as well! Going to have to share a lot of ideas here. I think I'm using a leftover ham bone to make split pea soup first when I get home from the frigid upper Midwest.

So far I've made hard boiled eggs. 6 minutes and into ice bath. Perfect.

As much as I like to take my time with long stews and roasts and braises etc I'm really into the idea of making those types of meals after work now instead of just for Sunday dinner.

Would love to see some tips on this. I have an old electric one, but its been a lot of trial and error, and error, and error, with limited success. Thought about buying a conventional one over a burner.

My favorite kitchen appliance ever. Haven't used my slow cooker since

Pulled pork
Tri-tip or brisket shredded tacos
shredded chicken tacos.
baby back ribs, finish on the grill
barbecue sauce

hard boiled eggs, although I like 5 minutes then an ice bath

6 quart, this one here. Paid 69.99 for it when it went on sale. Worth it at full price.

This about what I do for pulled pork. Almost any cut of pork will work. 80 minutes is what I do, beats 5 or 6 hours in a crock pot.

Just got one. It's amazing. You can make the same meals in it that you can in a slow cooker in a fraction of the time, and it doesn't suck all of the flavor out of the meat.

Eating this right now. Seriously some of the best chile flavor I've ever had. Made 6 large servings with about $10 of ingredients (thanks food city). The whole process start to finish took an hour with about 20 mins of inactive time. Just blown away by the balances of flavor and spice.

I had one for a while, but got rid of it. Just took up counter space. Everything I do with an air fryer I now do on my propane grill using a grill mat.

For example these are just as good on a grill mat as in an airless fryer.

Yes. Got it mostly because of my 16 month old who has some interesting food texture issues and we wanted to get away from the traditional fried foods. My wife loves it.
