Thanks, J. I'll try to love every minute, even when she pulls me out of a dream at 4 AM for literally no other conceivable reason than she suddenly decides that she wants to be bounced.

Reading it to my kid, every time I see Max howling and dancing on that page of the book, I stop and wonder why that looks so familiar. Suddenly it hit me.

I'm almost 31 now and have been married for all of 8 months and I'm just now beginning to feel the slight twitchings of wanting a kid. My entire life I've abhorred the idea but maybe 5-10% of me now actually looks at a baby and thinks it's not just awful.

Oh, but it is awful.

Of course, it's also joyous.

The %'s of each vary from kid to kid

Two, with discussions of going for number 3 in 18-24 months from now.

The old catholic italian genes in me really want a boy, but if I get another girl, that than would be 3 weddings and a lot of hormones during teenage years.

What I don't get is people who are interested in kids. I like to see posters' kids because I'm in this posting community, and I like my kid. But when I'm in a store with my kid, or with a friend and their kids, all these strangers just congregate around the kids as though they were free bacon. I don't notice the kids at all, unless they annoy me because they're in my way.

my exact thinking as well. my wife has taken care of children her entire life, whether because it was her younger half siblings, for her job as a pre school teacher, or when she nannied for countless families so it is second nature to her. but i literally have never seen a baby in my life and had even a fleeting interest in it. i mostly just wanted it to go away.

now this appeared to change when i spent xmas in wisconsin and a lot of time around my wife's 1 year old cousin. some strange feeling came over me that one of those little fuckers wouldn't be all that bad all the time. scary shit.

As a father of 2 boys, my biggest fear was having 3 boys

Stop at 2 no matter what.

Like Sean Miller I prefer playing a man-to-man defense over a zone

See, I have a boy and really have no desire to have a girl, mostly because I don't want new things for the girl, especially clothes. Most of the clothes are hand me downs from friends whose kids outgrew it and we'll pass it on to the next friend in our group.

I only dress my girl in boy's clothes. When family members send her gifts of girl's clothes, I pass them on to somebody else with the tag still on them.

I've heard lots of good arguments about not wanting to have kids but not wanting to cloth them is a new one for me!

pretty much everything about having kids and raising them sounds awful. (at least from when they're born to their 20-30 and independent...hopefully). no thank you.
