Beautiful pockets of rain and sunshine all the way from El Paso to Sedona today. Fucking gorgeous.

Watched this lightning storm roll in and hit us hard Saturday around sunset. The blooming Palo Verdes have been incredible the last 3 weeks.

Sunday we went four-wheeling without jackets down near Sonoita and it dropped into the mid 50s and poured again

Rare “March storm” gonna pound nor cal this week into the weekend.

Mt. Shasta summit bid is Thursday through Sunday...

There is a weather window mid Thursday through evening Friday we will shoot for.

Wish us luck. If it’s too terrible we’ll retreat. The mountain will be there for next year.

Pretty rare occurrence. Last touch down we had was 10 years ago. Apparently the air over Lake Michigan (5 miles from us) is cooler and the outflow gets sucked into thunderstorms, dissipating their energy. South of us tornadoes are much more common.

How did we stay safe? Headed down into our basement and stayed away from the windows.

Publicly posting a gay marriage proposal in Texas seems far bolder than proposing in front of a tornado.

Up here in the Central Coast I feel like it's been Seattle type weather. Tired of being overcast and drizzly.

I bet, especially since you will be coming back as soon as it warms up. You missed one of the coolest second halves of May in half a century. Average high was 82 when it's usually about 96.

Thought it was just me. As some of you know I moved from Tucson to Irvine in March. Beginning of May was gloomy and I guess June gloom is a thing in SoCal?

I enjoy the temperatures for sure, but the gloominess is annoying at times.

May gray, June gloom, all part of living in coastal Cali. But it usually burns off by 10am or so.
azgreg wrote:I would probably be OK if I never see the sun again.
I thought the same thing when I moved from Tucson to the west (foggy) side of San Francisco in 1985.

It was nice the first few weeks, since I no longer had to make sure I had sunglasses with me, but that didn't last very long.

I worked on the sunny east side, and occasionally I would get a call from my wife asking if she pick me up just so she could see the sun.

After about four days of not seeing the sun the wife and I need a road trip somewhere bright. It's an undeniable physiological need we accept as given. She gets antsy and depressed and I contemplate meaningful arguments with tellers, shopping carts, empty restroom handtowel dispensers. No wonder people in Portland burn so much weed.

At least according to the Tucson airport, we are likely going to hit 100 degrees on Sunday for the first time in 264 days, just shy of 9 months. Last 100 degree day was September 18, 2018. Lived in Arizona 33 years and I think that's the longest stretch I've ever seen. Crazy.
