He showed his famous sense of humor in a 2006 commentary for NPR's "This I Believe" series, writing: "I admire enormously the candidate able to face defeat with humor and grace. Nobody ever conceded defeat better than Dick Tuck who, upon losing a California state senate primary, said simply, 'The people have spoken ... the bastards.' "

Siragusa now? Come on.

I don't know whether everyone is suddenly dying, or it just seems that way because of this thread, or if this thread is causing everyone to die.

Hard to believe a neurosurgeon would ride a motorcycle on city streets after all the motorcyclists he probably saw brought in after accidents over the years:

As a Laker fan I hated how he dominated us. But always respected the man especially his selfless team play. 11 rings including 8 straight says it all.

Hey Wilt, here comes your nemesis.

RIP big Bill.

Simply the best ever. A piece of my childhood consisted of listening to Vinny on the radio calling Dodger games.

He didn’t just announce, he painted a portrait each and every game with his poetic voice and his verbal repertoire. But his greatest talent was his impartiality, if you listened to him for the first time you never would have known he was the Dodger announcer. He loved and respected the game that much.

Thank you Vinny. You will be missed.

Mitch McConnell currently plotting to keep the monarchy seat open until after the midterms…

Queen Elizabeth was definitely a living embodiment for older British generations to respectfully cling their sentiments of the "old world" to. For them she was the time before the world went into hyperdrive. A Merry England unto herself. Now a vacancy of national identity the Monarch is unable to fill.

RIP Queen Elizabeth.

edit:

Opening line of BBC's official obituary - HM The Queen 1926 - 2022: "She became for many the one constant point in a rapidly changing world as British influence declined, society changed beyond recognition and the role of the monarchy itself came into question."
And I said, ‘That last thing is what you can't get...Nobody can get to that last thing. We keep on living in hopes of catching it once and for all.’ Jack Kerouac, On The Road
