This thread is about trolls and for everyone's reference, including the trolls.
Widely held identification of trolls is effectively a banning of these trolls, which is why the necessary troll defense is the accusation of mob mentality, and why trolls defend one another. Like all threads, the trolls will attempt to wreak havoc on this one.
The ignore feature is useful when threads become unreadable and discussion topics fall off the tracks because of trolling. Otherwise, the ignore feature isn't necessary for all trolls.
I suggest that we cut-and-paste rather than quote, and put forth and sign our names to troll identifications, and separately, trolls for whom we've enabled the ignore feature.
What separates real trolls from falsely accused trolls is the general weight of the endorsements. For example, if I say that Merkin is a troll but nobody other than trolls signs on, then I'm probably the troll.
Clearly identified trolls are better contained trolls.
I'll start. Please cut-and-paste to endorse a troll.

I enjoyed RockyRaccoon calling gumby "simplistic." The dude boils the success of probably the second-best college basketball coach in history down to his use of timeouts, and then calls GUMBY the simple one for calling out how stupid that is. That was worth a good laugh. A huge chunk of any message board's posters is composed of simple people (hell, one or two have even already posted in this thread!) but gumby is far from being one of them.
