Don’t remember any straight on kickers, but my guy Mike Lansford used to kick barefoot for the Rams.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Garo Yepremian I think was the first soccer style kicker in the league, if memory serves. At least the first most successful one.

I grew up in MI, and was a huge Lions fan. I remember when Dempsey, with only half a foot, and one hand, kicked a 63 yarder. Lions didn't even try to block it since they knew he couldn't make it. Outdoors too, on grass.

Dempsey was quite hung over too, which was common in those days by players.

Sadly, it looks like he suffers from football induced CTE https://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/28/spor ... entia.html" target="_blank

David Olney who wrote some great songs died on stage last night sitting on his stool while performing. He never fell over but just dropped his head up his chest and said he was dirty yo his singing partner.

Clive Cussler passed away. My dad got such a kick out of his books and loved passing them along to me.

My wife's favorite movie these days is "Sahara". It bumped "Lawrence of Arabia" out of first place.

Coronavirus took Tom Dempsey, former record-setting kicker for the New Orleans Saints. He was 73.

One of the last straight on kickers. That record breaking kick against the Lions was back when the goal posts were at the goal line meaning he kicked the ball from his own 37 yard line.

Had half a foot and a special shoe too, along with only one hand.

I was a huge Lions fan back then, and still living in Michigan and never missed a Lion's game. No one thought he was going to make it, and the Lions didn't even try to block it.
