Apparently it was a brand new 737 Max. Shouldn't be having some catastrophic mechanical failure so I wonder what happened.

I fly Southwest out of Burbank a lot and am frankly surprised this doesn't happen more often given how short those runways are. At least this time they didn't end up in the gas station.

Burbank always scared me flying in and out of the couple times I did. Wasn't there some other Southwest plane that did the same thing in the rain there like 10-15 years ago?

Yeah - it almost rolled into the gas station that used to be across the street. After that the city forced the gas station to close and they installed the EMAS arrestor system that looks like it stopped this one.

The more that comes out of Boeing, the clearer it becomes that Boeing is evil as fuck for everything they've done since 2011 regarding the Max. They've killed a lot of innocent people while chasing profits. They need to be held accountable.

Yup, had a chance to go clean sheet but didn’t because of shareholders and airline bids.

FAA (former Boeing execs) are complicit as well.

To be fair that pretty much describes every large corporation. Profit at the expense of the life and safety and well being of everyone.

Maybe, but has Airbus shown this degree of negligence? I'd rather reward them at the expense of Boeing, who jerry rigged their own 737-800 model in an effort to keep pace with Airbus's legit engineering. Boeing taped on engines that didn't fit the existing aircraft model, squeezing them onto the front of the wing, which caused the nose to tilt upwards and stall the engines, for which they added software that tilted the nose downward. And it worked for Boeing, money-wise. The executives flew around in small jets, ate shark fin soup in Japan with their families, and bribed their children's way into prestigious private colleges in order to repeat the cycle of dumb white guys who get rich off everyone else. Until it all came crashing down twice.

They exerted pressure for the max revision rather than wait for a redesign.
