Re: The Weather is Crazy
Yeah 110 is supposed to be a rare June thing....now it's a common June thing and a somewhat common July thing. July is supposed to be 95-100 with thunderstorms almost daily.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.

Re: The Weather is Crazy
This time last year I'd had almost 7 inches of rain at my house. So far this year it's less than an inch. It has been cloudy and stormy all over town most days this month but never here. Hell the storm tonight dumped rain for 45 mins a mile from my house but I didn't even get a sprinkle.

Supposed to be 107 in Boise today which is nuts for around here. Summer is typically high 90s with a smattering of 100s and 101s. What really makes the heat miserable though is the opaque layer of smoke from fires. Really affects the air quality and it's killing me right now. I can feel it my throat, lungs and sinuses. Nasty.

Inhaling that shit can be the equivalent of smoking a half to two packs of cigarettes a day. So I’d limit your outdoor activity as much as possible.BearDown89 wrote:Supposed to be 107 in Boise today which is nuts for around here. I don't know if Boise is like the central coast of Cali, but very few homes and some businesses don't have AC to filter the air of smoke particles.
All the home improvement stores sold out of the N95 masks when we had the fires in Montecito last year.

Re: The Weather is Crazy
I've seen some pretty nasty pictures from Cali too in the last couple of days. Feel like shit today. I figure the a/c filtration in my office building must be better than it is in my little bachelor pad, otherwise I'd go home. It's getting worse every year. Only upside is that the heat doesn't feel as intense as you'd expect because the smokey haze blocks the sun and actually provides some shade. Still nasty though.Merkin wrote:I don't know if Boise is like the central coast of Cali, but very few homes and some businesses don't have AC to filter the air of smoke particles.

No joke. Between the heat and the smoke, my mountain bike does not appeal and sits idle. I can literally feel the burn/irritation in my lungs. Putting a damper on enjoying the "fresh local produce" from neighboring Oregon as well. Guess it's gummies for me tonight . . .Chicat wrote:Inhaling that shit can be the equivalent of smoking a half to two packs of cigarettes a day. Phone says 109. Rearview mirror in the truck says 112. Seeing all kinds of posts in that range. Went outside to check and I'm just not feeling it. Probably because there aren't any cactus around . . .

I've seen that radar. If you are heading south towards to Sonoita on 83 it's in the mountain range to the east.

Ocean water temp has risen above 80 degrees in San Diego. Scripps Pier recorded their highest water temperature ever (since 1919) at 78.6 degrees.
In case you arent familiar, water temperatures are typically in the high 60s around now, pushing low 70s into early September.
This is absolutely incomprehensible down here. Its freaking Miami Beach in San Diego.

One of my coworkers lives in Cayucos in central California. They were bagging jellyfish off their surfboards last weekend.
Don't recall hearing that before around here. The warmer the water, the less oxygen there is. Jellyfish do very well in low oxygen situations.

Re: The Weather is Crazy
My son-in-law works at Pearl Harbor on Oahu. They are shutting down the base Thursday afternoon and sending everyone home. Which makes my daughter much more happy especially with a 2 month old.
She said the ports are closed, nothing is coming for 7 days, and the stores are packed.

Microburst took out the power around town about 2 this afternoon. In my area it is a tiny spot of about 25 houses and apartments total. The rest of Tucson had their power restored immediately...but here it's been out for 6.5 hours with 0 attention from TEP.
Re: The Weather is Crazy
I'm at Thornydale/Cortaro and was at the epicenter of the heaviest rains yesterday. 4 water rescues, dozens of downed trees, roads closed all over. My rain gauge had 3.2 inches in it. It only rained for 30 minutes!

88 in Tucson now. That's generally not unusual for October but the whole month has been 10 to 20 degrees below average and very rainy so it feels warm.

Today could possibly be the only 90 degree day in the entire month of October in Tucson. Which is insane.

Update: it was cold and overcast at the beach yesterday, just like it should be at the end of October. Left early.MrMeow wrote:Almost November, and I will spend the day at the beach today.
