Re: Marijuana
All the old time dealers were telling us to vote against legalization, saying that all the government controls regarding inspections and testing were going to raise prices.
I for one salute our weed overlords. Besides the low costs, I really like the consistency of what I am ingesting.
I think I still have the numbers of the old time dealers. Don't know if they went legit or not.

I pretty much never smoke weed anymore but I know a guy in San Diego that prefers black market sources for his pot because, according to him, all the weed at the dispensaries is very hybridized with little difference between batches and he can't get a different strain he prefers.Merkin wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 8:26 am All the old time dealers were telling us to vote against legalization, saying that all the government controls regarding inspections and testing were going to raise prices.

If I ingest a particular strain for more than a week it’s affects become tempered, so I love getting 5-6 different strains from the dispensaries so I can mix it up. For instance today it’s been Sativa since I have minor shit to do but I’ll switch to a hash live resin tonight to unwind.Carcassdragger wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 11:07 amI pretty much never smoke weed anymore but I know a guy in San Diego that prefers black market sources for his pot because, according to him, all the weed at the dispensaries is very hybridized with little difference between batches and he can't get a different strain he prefers.Merkin wrote: Sun Jun 23, 2024 8:26 am All the old time dealers were telling us to vote against legalization, saying that all the government controls regarding inspections and testing were going to raise prices.

Re: Marijuana
Just recently sent a friend in Wisconsin a package of Michigan bud because the equivalent in Illinois was 5X as much.
It was worth it to him to take the risk of getting a package from the US Postal Service rather than pay what it would have cost to drive a little less than an hour to the Illinois dispensaries right across the border.
Federal legalization needs to happen ASAP so that there is true competition and so people who are essentially the equivalent of beer drinkers can enjoy themselves without having to resort to hostage pricing or Pablo Escobar shenanigans.

Re: Marijuana
Elton John doesn't like the legalization of Marijuana: "...he talked about his struggles with drug addiction and why he isn’t as blasé about weed as many other people. 'I maintain that it’s addictive. It leads to other drugs. And when you’re stoned — and I’ve been stoned — you don’t think normally,' he said. 'Legalizing marijuana in America and Canada is one of the greatest mistakes of all time.'
Might I agree. After witnessing several friends who for the past 12 - 15 years have used marijuana almost daily, one in particular is showing clear signs of schizophrenia and has cut off all his friends. The rest have lost their ambition and aren't bothered to be productive or social anymore. We know about "high functioning alcoholics" - we've all worked with several - whose known drinking weighs little on their productivity. But there's no such person as a "high functioning stoner," at least by my observation.
Judging by the data from the CDC: "...marijuana directly affects the parts of the brain responsible for memory, learning, attention, decisionmaking, coordination, emotion, and reaction time. Long-term or frequent cannabis use has been linked to increased risk of psychosis or schizophrenia in some users and the risk of developing cannabis use disorder is even greater for people who begin to use it before age 18."

I never could broadly function when wasted. Skiing, fucking, planting trees ..... that's about it. Good thing I was too stoned to care.

One of these men smoked marijuana, and used cocaine when he could afford it. The other man never touched drugs or alcohol.

I have used cannabis nearly every night for the past 15 years. I'm good, regardless of what Elton's experiences have been

It's likely a large majority of regular folks' cognitive structure suffers little from weed. Mine gets totally wrecked, and I'm fuckin' jealous as hell. I could use some cosmic relief these days.UAdevil wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 6:14 pm I have used cannabis nearly every night for the past 15 years. I definitely think that daily use CAN result in cognitive impacts.
If so, there are many many many people my age who are fucked up in Southern California.

Harvesting my tiny homegrow(4 plants, tented in a closet) this weekend. Ghost OG buds looking fat. Not really worth the time and energy with the current MJ market, but fun. It's more like homebrewing beer these days, lol.
