We all need to make more meals with shredded rotisserie chicken. I've heard people disparage the rotisserie chickens in the supermarket, but those people either don't have both a job and kids, or they're just disparaging the chicken to feel better about themselves. How else should one begin chicken burritos or chicken enchiladas? By roasting a f'ing chicken? And then assembling and cooking all over again?

I just got the Food Lab book. It's like a college textbook - huge.

I'm just cracking it. Impressive.

Eaten by itself as a plain rotisserie chicken it isn't that good. I thought people only bought them to cut up or shred and use in burritos or other things.

He really forces you to learn the science. I've tried just following the recipes from time to time, but it doesn't work optimally unless I read through the several pages about how and why it all works and what doesn't work. Even learning something like the simple method of how to cook brats is a game changer, though. I'll never get over how much easier it is to cook with that science than it is to cook according to all the piled-up myths from tradition.

I don't think they're bad, but I usually use it in burritos or salads, etc.

The only part of this Superbowl my household isn't boycotting is guacamole. Making tri-tip tostadas with guacamole, pico de gallo, and queso fresco.

Otherwise, just hoping to read later how the Patriots dumped iced gatorade on Belichick before the game even started, Tom Brady's offensive line let the Falcons pummel him, and Kraft shat his pants on the way home.

Yeah, sunny-side up and all yolky.

Didn't all those medical scientists prove that eating cholesterol doesn't raise our cholesterol? I thought we just need calorie awareness and exercise.

Diet guru Mike Rousell claims that one can eat 3-4 whole eggs a day before having any adverse effects of cholesterol. Science has not understood the health benefits of eating yolks until recently.

The more I workout, the higher my HDL count.

Adding dietary fat to your daily intake is actually beneficial. It will make you feel more full. Look up LCHF.

Plain old crappy meal. Spaghetti with pork sausage, onion, canned tomatoes, arugula, and parmesan. Ran out of money and had to forage around the kitchen to see what we had. It was kind of good.

Real ramen is one of the best things you'll ever taste. I swear, there are nearly as many ramen places here in SD as there are taco shops now.

Spent the day in north beach treating the mother of my children.

Breakfast: Canoli's at Mama's with lavazza espresso
Lots of day drinking.
Lunch/Dinner: pinnocchos trattoria, polents funghi to start, eggplant risotto, and chicken piccata. Tiramisu, and a bottle of Nora de alba.

One hell of a cheat day and delicious.

Apparently not. I had never had it before, but the taste on the back of my tongue didn't do it for me. I really wanted to like it, too, because it was really easy to make.

For those who know...would you rather have a philly cheesesteak sandwich or a philly roast pork sandwich with the sharp provolone and broccoli rabe? i'm contemplating either for dinner tonight from Frankie's in Tucson and it's quite a dilemma. I've had cheesesteaks plenty but never the philly roast pork.
