Most of my team at work got snow. I think I'm the only one who didn't.

Makes me recall my Montana youth. It's time to buy a case of Hamm's, a tank full of minimum wage, and go 4 wheelin' for 5 hours. Gotta remember to bring a bag of dirt weed and to leave the chains in the garage. Howdy officer!

we had some decent snow where i live.

nice fluffy, plump flakes.

for a little while there it reminded me of other places with how much snow was coming down.

I wish more of it had the opportunity to stick and stay around though.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

Kids were pissed though because they cleared the roads in time for school.

I know this is going to sound silly, but I feel like this can be directly attributed to the Weather Channel's decision to start naming winter storms.

They dubbed this event "Winter Storm Shirley". Which means there were 18 storms prior to this one that warranted getting named for some reason. Even though many of these "storms" were really just normal winter weather impulses that dropped a few inches of snow in some places, and none at all in others.

This particular storm was a particularly dangerous one, bringing winter storm and ice warnings from mid-Texas all the way up into New York. A swath of like 20+ states. If ever there was a storm that needed a name, it was this one. But there were 18 other events that also got names and by this time people have stopped paying attention.

They need to stop naming winter storms. It's a marketing ploy to get clicks and viewers throughout the winter and I honestly believe it breeds a lackadaisical attitude toward actual severe weather that puts people in danger.

In Texas it's called brown ice because the Mexicans brought over the border.

The bold part is exactly why they do it. The do have a criteria for naming storms but it is subjective and misleading. I've listen to people from the Weather Channel give talks at conferences about this and they try to argue that it is to raise awareness and make communication easier but everyone knows it is just for marketing. Nothing scientific about it.

Let’s take a look at the forecast for the three day weekend...

It's around 53 here this morning, any my heater is cranked up to 73. Yet my wife and I are still both cold. I used to see old men walking around Tucson in the spring with jackets on, and was wondering what the heck? Now that's me!.

We haven't had a warm winter, nor has it been a cold one. My blueberries and other plants never went dormant over the winter and now it's time for the buds to open up.

This is funny because as a lifelong Arizonan, I don't break out the long pants and sweaters until it gets into the 40s. I'm still wearing shorts and tshirts most of the time when its 50 degrees outside.

For some reason, my Tucson family always wears long pants in winter even on the warmer days. I wear cargo shorts all year round. Actually haven't worn long pants since before I was sent to work from home in March, so almost 11 months. Do have a hoodie on now though.

Yea with working from home I only wear jeans on days where the high temperature is below 60. Even then sometimes not. My office is in a detached building with a window ac/heater and it is sometimes in the 30s and 40s inside at 8 am. I just wear flip flops, shorts, and a hoodie to work since I know the heater will get it warmed up to about 60 by 10 am
