Who has Padron Peppers? I’ve seen Shishoto, but not Padron locally.ByJoveByJingle wrote:Some overly blistered Padron peppers in olive oil, sprinkled with salt. An aesthetic nightmare, but still tasty. And a variety of pre-made skewers from the local supermarket. Also tasty. This is about the level of my ambition beyond ordering takeout.

Redux. Amazing meal. This time made with refried beans from home-rendered pork lard and heirloom beans grown in northern Mexico, via Rancho Gordo.Longhorned wrote:By request from the wife: a “bachelor dinner bowl” of rice, beans, hot sauce, grated cheese, and a fried egg. All this food porn. I gotta go spank it.
My wife has been making egg McMuffins from scratch. Drop biscuits and sausage with eggs over medium. We usually don't eat much of anything for bfast since I quit work, but being quasi-shut in makes it irresistible.

I’ve been using Kenji’s Egg McMuffin recipe. I just do an over hard egg to make it easier. CBacon some days, or a smashed sausage patty others.
Wrapping them in foil for a few minutes deals the deal.

Not dinner but shelter in place has allowed me to reconnect with some of my childhood favorites:
Rice Krispie treats is an underrated snack/desert.
Cheese crisps are a great lunch.
There is nothing better than homemade popcorn with just a sprinkle of salt. Why did I ever buy bagged popcorn?

Pizza delivery from a place called Sauce. It was okay. But when somebody orders a cannoli, they don’t want lemon chiffon filling instead of the usual, so you should at least be up front about that bullshit.
