Spoke for 1 hour and 20 minutes straight about erections, masturbation, and ejaculation in ancient Egyptian sculpture and painting to an audience of sleepy college students.

Settling in for a long night of book chapter writing.

Clearly not waking hours, but so caffeinated I may give myself a arrhythmia. Baby's asleep though.

Yesterday and now today, and probably the rest of the week - Many many hours using AutoCAD & SolidWorks to edit/reconfigure/re-draft diagrams of piping systems. Thousands upon thousands of feet of piping. Every little detail going into the main drains - Ice Machines, Dishwashers, Washers, and of course showers and toilets.

No worries though - this is how a junior pays his dues in the engineering firm. And it's work I'm fully capable of. And for anyone using experience to land new work you'll notice that 3 - 5 yrs of heavy duty CAD experience is a qualification for just about every intermediate Mechanical/Electrical/Systems/Architect position posting.

Just go off the phone with the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to confirm what an applicant had been telling me. Of course, he was feeding me a line of BS and now is required to get a Public Convenience or Necessity Permit which requires him going before the Planning Commission and costs about $1,500.

Let's go get some ice cream, but no sprinkles, sprinkles are for winners.
It's long past time to bring this back to the court, let's do it with a small update:

My lunch was awesome. The food was meh. The client is a total racist. It lasted 3 hours. And I probably talked my way into a million dollars worth of business.
threenumberones wrote:Just finished a pitch that the managing partner completely fumbled at the end. Not sure what to say to him.
I've been there and it's not a fun position to be in. Especially when you did your job, sold the client, and then you have to sit there and watch it slip through your fingers.

Is it a client's prerogative to be racist? Like, "It's my money you want, so what are you going to do to make me happy? Can you bring in one of them Oriental girls to scrape off my toe callus?"

People are people. And some truly terrible people run businesses that have millions of dollars to spend. Personally, I like taking their money. Keeps it from going to fund organizations that picket mosques.

My son used this in his high school engineering class. Good to know it's used in the real world. The school also has a 3D printer. Very cool.

AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, and ProE are the most immediately applicable skills upon finishing school and entering the industry. Used AutoCAD and Solidworks all through the last three years of undergrad. I learned quickly to highlight CAD experience on the resume because every interviewer had questions about it. To use industry terms, almost all 'Work Packages' I submit include AutoCAD drawings as 'deliverables.'

Working on getting a developer to increase the width of a balcony/patio from 4' to 6'. We actually taped off an area of the proposed balcony/patio and placed two chairs and a table in the area.

I have an administrator who's a really nice guy. I just had a meeting with him to inform that I'm prepared to file an official grievance against him for things that really aren't his fault, but they are his responsibility to fix. He agreed to get creative and proactive and work to fix the situation without my needing to file the grievance. Fixing the situation means moving me to a different department so that I can do what I'm paid to do.

Since White Jesus is the Lamb of God maybe it's considered some sort of ‎transubstantiation cannibalism.

And look how much White Jesus loves lambs:

He kind of got nervous and rambled, and then I said, "Okay, I'd like the minutes to reflect that response." I'm not kidding. The note taker gave me a befuddled look and proceeded to type.

This is what we're down to now. It's been a hard day.

Tosca Cafe, at 2nd and F street in DC, a nice Italian wood fired pizza, and a bottle of (1/2 off Monday bottles) Montepulciano.

Pounding emails, drafting my talk for my professional conference, getting work done.

Will check for spelling and grammar errors in the AM.

Pretty slow today. Awaiting review and return from drafts submitted to customers early this week. Highlight was one guy leaving early with the announcement he received an official offer from Tesla Motors. Considered a major upgrade.

I'm running our sales meeting tomorrow. I'm sure it's some stupid thing that our EVP read in some stupid management book about making sales reps run the meeting, but whatever. I had the highest sales last month and this is my punishment.

So right now I'm putting the last touches on my presentation - "Conversations That Win The Complex Sale as illustrated by the movie Tommy Boy".

No, I am not kidding...
