Yeah, sorry, a Manwich. Mamwiches would be horrible marketing.

Is a Mamwich something like a fur burger or tuna taco?

Either that, or a sandwich for Aunt Jemima. The old Aunt Jemima.

Or Al Jolson.

I imagine your neighbors have tomatoes falling off the vine and rotting. I know I do, even my heirlooms.

Never refrigerate a tomato btw.

It was too cold to grow them this year. The higher volume farms at least yielded a low volume. But I have nothing to show for my vines this year, and neither do my neighbors. Of course, now that it's too late in the season, the heat index is 115.

Do you think you could taste the difference between a salmon that was troll-caught, farmed, netted, long-lined, swatted out of a stream by a bear, or gently enticed to leap into a hand-woven basket with crumbled brioche pieces?
Just pisses me off that a troll can catch fish and I can't.

Farmed beats wild salmon. Stuff like this cracks me up.

Biggest scam is the price of Copper River salmon. Like you can tell.

Having Costco salmon tonight, with green beans. Both farmed.

My favoritest favorite is still farmed Norwegian fjord trout. I tried and tried and tried to like the various Alaskan wild salmons better (Copper River, King, Coho), but I just can't. It's okay. I save a ton of money.

I've had Spinato. Let's just call as truth sees it and say Bianco is a 10 and Spinato is a 4.5.

Tonight: Spaghetti with cantaloupe sauce

cantaloupe, a little lemon juice, tomato paste, heavy cream, parmesan, salt & pepper

Sublime! One of my favorite pastas. Sometimes I add prosciutto at the end.

Sounds good; how much tomato paste and heavy cream? Cantaloupe in a food processor, or hand blender I take it, similar to making butternut squash soup?

Very similar, or a butternut pasta sauce.

I don't use food processors because I hate cleaning them. But you could.

This is Marcella Hazan's recipe, based on a recipe she acquired at a restaurant in Venice, where she lived after leaving Bolgna:

Cut up a peeled, seeded melon into 1/4" dice. Melt 4 tablespoons butter over medium-high heat. Cook down the melon until it releases almost all of its liquid. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, salt, pepper, and 3/4 cup heavy cream (don't try it with anything lighter - it won't even work). Cook it down in half. Pour it over a pound of spaghetti and stir it up with parmesan, with more parmesan for people to add to the table.

It's stunning. If you ask people to guess what it is, they won't know. Careful, though, as you know some people are allergic to melons.

Had a tuna sandwich and iced tea. Same entree as lunch. Just too damn tired. But rallied this morning and chopped up leftover steak, some peppers, onion and warmed it all in pan of butter. Then scrambled two eggs, dumped in the sauteed fixins and added Mexican cheese and salsa verde ( which tastes better if say it in Spanish). Complemented this with toast (Dave's Killer Bread -- is this sold everywhere?) and coffee from the beans purchased at a local bakery/coffeehouse. Then complimented myself.

Feel like Anu man.

I've tried to do better from scratch. Nope. Campbell's is perfection, and so is Heinz tomato soup, sold in the international aisle.

Made breakfast for dinner last night. Waffles, crispy bacon, seasoned some potatoes in a pan, maple syrup drizzled over everything. Was delicious.
