There's a reason it's called currency. Use of treasury notes of immediate maturity is an intimate transaction and a more holistic reckoning than the use of revolving credit. The system hates you, of course, because it can't attach you digitally and charge you for the privilege of making errors while using them as short term loans while you fight with it about them. Europeans are completely befuddled by the concept of checks. “Here’s this piece of paper I wrote on. I swear I have this much money in my account and will transfer it over to you. And I promise not to withdraw too much in the interim so I won’t have enough to keep this flimsy promise to pay you the stated amount.”
Well when you put it that way it does seem sort of . . . quaint?

IIRC every single issue I've ever had was the fault of the vendor, the bank, the website, the software, moron #1 and moron #2. With a few god habits, all the risks posed by the postal service or check washing seem to accrue to other people who don't have much sense. But people are generally irresponsible. A man's gotta be good for something. Seriously though, they can just say no, but in the end nobody does. It's as specious and ephemeral as the insistence on providing your zipcode or phone number when buying a coffee. I didn't opt-in to that shit. I understand the value in acquiring and then selling my information; I understand the efficiencies of automation in retail transaction, but I bet if you were to drill down into the numbers the safety advantage is diminishing with time. There's so many more lambs to slaughter in digital transactions .... that's where the meat is. Albanian scammers view my checks as chiseled into stone tablets. Why bother?, says Marco from Tropoja.ASUHATER! wrote:Other than you inconveniencing the hell out of everyone you give them to haha.dovecanyoncat wrote:I'm certain there are stats to prove you correct. True craft beer is normal now. I say just drink whatever you want. I used to be into the ipas a lot now though I like drinking the craft lagers and pilsners and session beers.CatsbyAZ wrote:Too many micro breweries are push their worn out IPAs well past their welcoming. I always tell my IPA snob friends that it was originally brewed to make it from England to India without spoiling and no one gave a shit how it tasted. Now they’re lapping it up like it’s the culmination of expert brewers with advanced palates. Sorry my man, but you’re drinking what convicts pressed into service on an English ship drank 200 years ago because they couldn’t drink the fucking water.

Same here. The older I get, the less hop I want my beer.
Reminded me of something my marketing professor said back in the 1980s when I was a student. He came from Falstaff, and they found men generally stopped drinking beer around age 40, and switched to mixed drinks, usually involving whiskey. That's probably a little dated, looking at all the old TV shows and movies.
Now 98% of my drinking is red wine.
Re: Post your unpopular opinions
I always like some hop in the beer, just not overpowering. Most good craft lagers or pilsners do have a little hop. Hazy east coast ipas are pretty good and not overpowering hoppy.

And if I get into the banana and it’s brown down the core even in one small spot and the rest of ok...into the trash with you.

I mix up the black bananas with milk and sugar and pass them off to the 3-year-old as "banana pudding."
Another thing you can do is just spread the soft, dark banana on bread is a substitute for jelly in a PBJ.
