What do you do with yours? I keep mine and destroy them when I get home.

Turn them back in to the front desk.

Have them in a collection, at least those that are not generic and have the name of the hotel on them

Same here. I kept the interesting ones, especially from the Vegas Casinos.

Gotta wonder, how did this topic come up?

Nope. I never even bother checking out of my room.

I have started to hear that the keys may now contain some of your personal info on them. I destroy them.

Or just give them back to the desk where they are erased and reused haha. No need to steal and destroy them.

I drill holes in them, thread them together, and make hotel room key pants. I sell them on guert.com

If I have to go past the front desk on my way out, I'll drop them off there. But if my car is closer to a side or rear entrance when I leave, I just leave the cards in the room

And btw, personal information being stored on your room key is nothing more than urban legend.

I am assuming we are talking about the electronic card kind of keys here? Because when I think of key I think of, you know, KEYS. :|

When I was married I started a canvas using all the keys from the hotels that we had stayed in adding to it as more came along. They were super glued onto a painted canvas. Actually, looked pretty cool. Well, that went in the trash. Now I save one from all hotels in a box. Just think that it is cool.

i usually just leave them in the room. i used to think it was cool to save them and just kept them in my wallet...but once it started getting to be several inches thick i had to clean it out and didn't bother saving any.

Snopes is a Masonic term meaning "New World Order." Gun-owning Americans who don't destroy their room keys will be rounded up and shipped off to recently shuttered Wal-Marts. However, it isn't all bad news. There is a continental breakfast.
Right where I want to be.
