I'd have to agree with Sandler being added and Chevy Chase too.

Leslie Neilsen needs a place at the table.

But shouldn't we be talking about quotable writers? It's not like some of these guys are coming up with this shit off the top of their heads...

That is true, but many of the most famous are ad-libbed.

I don't know. Lots of movies have a character that say "I'll be back," but there's a reason why I only say it in an Austrian accent.

Good point, but let's not forget that there was also James Cameron there to say, "Arnold baby, you're beautiful. Just beautiful. But on this take I really want you to tap into your inner Cyborg with a heart of gold. Ok? And . . . . . ACTION!"

Chris Farley doesn't get a nod?

What about Seinfeld...that show has to be one of the most frequent shows quoted along with the Simpsons...or are we strictly talking movies?

Michael Keaton

Not a huge body of work, but between Nightshift and Mr. Mom, there are plenty I use regularly.

Not the right thread but Bryan Cranston is starring in the upcoming movie about Trumbo. I remember when I first read Johnny Got his Gun, thinking, how far can this guy extend a metaphor. Trumbo has one hell of a personal story for a writer. Quotable, yes, even off-screen. Can't wait for the film.

There's a Michael Douglas-narrated doc on Netflix about Trumbo I highly recommend. Focuses on his experiences with HUAC, but covers all the bases. Every time I feel uninspired as a writer, I go to that.

The man wrote the whole "Spartacus" screenplay in six weeks sitting in a tub with a typewriter, for goodness' sake. No re-writes. That's what continues to motivate me, how articulate he was, yet how much integrity was contained in it at the same time.

Sorry UADevil, but I just couldn't put Kevin Smith in that company yet. Give us tomes, not Tweets, and I'll think about it.
