Looks like he/she/it dug a shallow trench and shat in it.
*edit: just to clarify, definitely a non-human animal and just trying figure out what it is. Definitely not a domestic one.

Do we have them in Tucson? I was thinking either bobcat or javelina or coyote. I’ve seen a bobcat twice on my property and saw my first coyote down the street just before Christmas when I drove to the airport in the early morning. Normally I’m not up early enough to see any nocturnal animals.

Most likely, its a coyote. Javalina is not out of the question, but id expect to see seeds and stuff.
Search on 'javalina scat' and you should be able to find a U of A 'glovebox guide' to scat identification

Somebody once accused someone on this board of a probable willingness to excuse Sean Miller even if he were to take a crap in the poster's driveway.

Only way to be sure is to taste it. Slight hint of almond and vanilla and you can be sure it was a bobcat.
