Well, the ball movement will stop when it gets to #7, that's for sure.

Blown out by Chicago Bulls drops Lakers to 8-7. Anthony Davis thrown out of game for cussing out referee after Chicago inbounded the ball while Davis was still putting his sneaker back on. Combine that with Davis getting into Dwight Howard's face on the bench earlier this season and I think we've got a meaner, more discontented Davis on our hands.

They need to get Lebron back before they will be competitive. How would the Bulls be doing without DeRozen?

Re: Lakers
Why the Lakers kept adding "older" pieces is beyond me. Obviously, keeping Lebron around makes sense but the mantle eventually goes to AD so surround him with guys that can play with him for a few years without needing friggin oxygen masks.
Geez.

I'm not sure AD is a guy I want to hang the franchise on. Can he play a whole season without injury? I don't think so

Rumor is that LeBron is coming back Friday against the Celtics
Re: Lakers
and then going back to Cleveland to close out his career
Re: Lakers
With all of the albeit older name brand players (and leaders?) on the roster why does it still have to come down to Lebron returning? Nobody on LA's roster can slightly stem the impact of losing Lebron?
If anything, the ten past games without Lebron are showing us that AD, even in the best of health, can't lead a team. Either by losing his composure or getting walked all over by Giannis who threw 47 in AD's face last night.

Their defense last year was so good, it was constipating to watch. That was a lot to give up in return for this lineup.

Re: Lakers
You're right about the D. Lakers've lost Schroder, Drummond, Kuzma, etc from last years lineup, all of whom quite often disappeared on offense but now looking back locked down a good D.Longhorned wrote: ↑Thu Nov 18, 2021 1:41 pm Their defense last year was so good, it was constipating to watch. Lakers gave up 130 to an excited Celtics team in Boston last night. AD was very productive on the open floor (31 pts) but again the D is crap, at one 3rd quarter stretch giving up 6 or 7 baskets at the rim.

Sure, but he did that in arguably the easiest 3-game stretch of the schedule where they lost to Sacramento in 3 OTs.

Re: Lakers
This was exactly my sentiment as well. For instance the other night LeBron and AD had massive games Vs a bottom feeding Pistons team and the Lakers still only won by 4 pts. What happens when the better teams out West slow down one or the other? Especially with AD playing like he never wants to step foot in the paint ever again?

Lakers got kicked off ESPN this Friday night. That's just where things stand.
The funny thing is that the media and programmers couldn't see coming what literally every poster to a man here saw coming since last summer.

Re: Lakers
Man those blue (or whatever) uniforms looked horrible Vs the Clippers last night. Despite the Lakers good shooting, the defense caved in and let up too much to beat the Clips. Lebron scored 23 points, but for long stretches it didn't even seem like he was on the floor.
The only good news about falling to 12-12 is that seeds 4 - 10 are all between 12-10 and 10-11, meaning it only takes a good two week run to secure takeover a spot in the top half of the West playoff seeding.

Re: Lakers
Anyone with three brain cells could see that the Lakers made themselves less athletic and less willing to play defense with their offseason acquisitions.
Barkley is right about AD. You can’t point to him and say at least he’s holding his own, let alone that he’s carrying the team. Stat lines like 18 & 9 and 20 & 6 should be embarrassing to him and make him question his own heart.

Re: Lakers
Vogel clearly doesn't deserve to take the hit for this, but I actually wonder whether, more and more, it's becoming the case that players need coaches who are former NBA players themselves. Maybe these nerdy ex-video splicers only get so much ear. Maybe Spoelstra got a little lucky and is an exception to the rule. Maybe Brad Stevens got off the bench in time.

Re: Lakers
Vogel didn’t put together that team and doesn’t get out on the floor and half-ass it most of the time.
This isn’t college. NBA head coaches (unless they are also GMs) are not responsible for lineup construction or motivating individual players.

Re: Lakers
David Fizdale, filling in as head coach while Vogel is in protocols, lauded the Suns' play but added they have had the good fortune that the Lakers have lacked.
"They've had a lot of continuity and they've been very lucky," Fizdale said. "That's lucky to be healthy"
Ummm.... when you decide to construct your roster from all-stars from a decade ago and your only younger star is ALWAYS injured... you are not unlucky... you are stupid

As a Laker fan, that excuse sucks balls. The Suns are just a flat out better team than this octogenarian team that the Lakers assembled this year.

Re: Lakers
I remember Darren Collison, but I wasn't familiar with Stanley Johnson. I looked him up and he played for Arizona. I sort of remember him. He came with a ton of hype. On the floor, he wasn't very impactful. He mostly spent his one-and-done year having (but not using) his "NBA body", and carrying the promise of NBA potential one day. Then he got poked in the eye and disappeared.
