The Miami Dolphins haven’t had a true fullback on their roster since Tyler Clutts in 2013. However, the Dolphins are taking creative means to fill that niche role this season.
Miami is experimenting with using starting defensive tackle Earl Mitchell at fullback in training camp. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound lineman took reps at fullback on Sunday and even made two surprising catches in team drills.
Mitchell last played fullback during his sophomore year in college at Arizona.
“Whatever guys can do to help their team,” Mitchell said. “That’s really what it comes down to.”
