There's a decent amount of Cardinals fans that post here so might as well start this thread with preseason games right around the corner.
Great news seeing PP21 ink an extension. Now the highest-paid CB in the league. 5 years, $70M ($48M guaranteed). He deserves it for sure, much like Fitz, just a stud athlete and football player, and couldn't be a better representative for the team and the state.

I thought the Cards looked pretty good Saturday night. of course, it just might be that the Texans looked so bad themselves. I thought Cooper looked good and except for a few plays Massey did OK as well. I was really impressed with both Browns and all three QBs.

Yeah, huge loss. Maybe not as much statistically anymore, but understood scheme, role, and helped weaker LB corps.

Huge gut punch there. Leader of the best D-Line in football last year.
But on the bright side, it was the best D-line in football, and very deep.
I'm just going to miss his leadership, intensity, and most importantly his attitude! But I'm sure he'll be on the sidelines each week when he can, giving everyone hell.

Anybody else find it odd that the Cardinals are playing the Chargers in the last preseason game and then play them in the season opener?

Former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Max Hall was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and narcotics possession Friday at a Best Buy in Gilbert, Ariz.
Police were called to the store at 11:30 a.m. and say they found Hall in possession of stolen items from Best Buy and Walmart. They also found a "personal use quantity of cocaine."
Police released Hall, and reportedly said any charges would come from the county attorney.
Back in 2010, Hall was in fierce competition on the Cardinals with Derek Anderson and Matt Leinart to see who was smart enough to throw to Larry Fitzgerald a bunch of times. Hall won the starting QB job on Oct. 10 but lost the gig later that season to Anderson.

Wow!
Police say Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer head-butted his wife after she refused his sexual advances, and broke her nose.
The details surfaced Thursday in a law enforcement report a day after Dwyer was arrested on aggravated assault charges and deactivated from all team activities. He spent a night in jail and was released early Thursday.
CBS affiliate KPHO-TV reports that Dwyer was released about 5 a.m. Thursday morning on $25,000 bond. He mumbled something to reporters, and when asked if he would play football again, he said, "I will." He then got into a taxi and was driven away.
The altercation occurred on July 21 at their Phoenix residence. The next day, another dispute between the couple turned violent when Dwyer punched his wife in the face and struck his 17-month-old son in the stomach with a shoe, according to the report. The son wasn't injured.
In a police interview, Dwyer denied committing an assault, though he acknowledged that he punched walls in his home, threw a phone and that his wife bit his lip during the disputes.

If you didn't know who John Brown was before, you know now. I went to school with him, so I know what he can do. Still there actually.

Not sure how it looked on TV but in person, was extremely impressed.
The 49ers basically were trying to intimidate the Cardinals and the Cards wouldn't play that game (nor would the refs). Speaks to the fortitude of the players but also of the coaching staff to prepare them well and keep their heads in it.
"Mayor" Stanton was nails, and the O-line kept him upright (helps that A.Smith and Bowman weren't playing of course).
Long season to go, though.

The only reason the Cardinals are suffering such ridiculous injuries is because they're good. For good Phoenix teams, fate usually intervenes, unless it's in a summertime sport that nobody's ever heard of like WNBA or Arena Football.

Awesome game, as close as can be. Cards made one or two more big plays than Philly. 6-1 feels good. Beating the Eagles should garner some respect.

Freaky. We'll lose a couple of more, but 12 wins certainly seems achievable if we keep this up.
Need to get someone that can spell Ellington a bit though. I feel the need to wash my mouth out with soap after saying this, but I'm intrigued to see what Grice can do - with Taylor out, he's going to get some touches for sure.

Never thought I would see the day where the Cardinals would be a well run NFL franchise with a great coach and a GM who has been acquiring quality talent. Just amazing right now.

No kidding.
I was texting my friend yesterday who is a big cowboys fan, to just wait, the cardinals would find a way to screw the game up.
He goes, "stop it, they are 6-1 you're acting like a bears fan"
I replied, you just don't understand.

For the Cards to have a backup QB in Stanton who could win games on the road is something this franchise is not used to.
That win at the Giants was awesome, and the torching of the 49ers was even better.
But to win at Seattle will tell the tale...

Even if they don't win at Seattle this year, the nucleus did last season, so they know they can beat anyone anywhere.
Gotta win next two. 9-1 sets them up nicely. Their last 6 are a bitch.

Only gimme game is at Atlanta, and it's still a road game against a team with great offensive pieces. They all will be tough, to a degree. Lions are no joke. Rams can beat AZ as evidenced by last year.
Good news is Arizona is also getting healthy.

Palmer extension worth $50M
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11838 ... 50-million
The Arizona Cardinals signed quarterback Carson Palmer to a three-year extension that keeps the two-time Pro Bowler under contract through 2017, the team announced Friday.
Contract terms were not disclosed by the Cardinals, but sources confirmed to ESPN that the deal is worth $50 million in total. It is guaranteed through 2015 and includes a guaranteed $20.5 million during that span, a source said. The average salary range is between $15.9 million and $16.6 million.
Palmer, who was due to enter free agency after this year, was slated to earn $9 million this season.

$50M good? I don't know. He is having a very good year this year though. 116 for 188, 1385 yards with 11 TDs and only 2 ints. The real question is: What is the alternative?

It's effectively a very expensive one-year extension, but I trust this staff.

It's 20 million guaranteed-that's the number that matters in the NFL.
