There's an Olympics in Tokyo?

Makes you wonder if this is a new infection or a lingering one.

Are You Allowed to Criticize Simone Biles?: A Decision Tree

Biles made the right decision for her health and safety, but she still quit on her team at the worst possible moment. The Olympics are the biggest stage for gymnastics. Is there a famous gymnast anyone can name that didn't break out in the Olympics?

If Biles had any thoughts she couldn't commit to the games 100%, at any point, then she shouldn't have committed to going. Biles has nothing to prove. But somewhere, in the US, is the last gymnast cut from the team who may never have the chance to perform on the biggest stage. Biles is already a millionaire with plenty of endorsement deals. She took a spot from another athlete, and then quit too late to name a replacement.

There are also US gymnasts on the team, who were depending on Biles to help win the team gold. Might be their only chance for gold, and while silver is great, it's not gold.

Again, if your head isn't in the game in gymnastics, don't risk your physical health by tumbling and spinning like Biles does. I get that. But I'm not going to applaud anyone who quits while the competition is going on. Had Biles stepped away a few weeks ago, that is fine. But if you are going to commit, you should be committed 100% and finish what you start. But it seems with Biles, all she had to do is say she had mental health issues, and not only does that act as a get out of jail free card, she is lauded as a hero?

We need to find a way to prevent any athlete, in the future, finding himself or herself in the position Biles was in. Either get the athletes the help they need to finish what they start, or decide to bow out gracefully, with plenty of time to find alternatives. The time to say you need help should be long before you have the uniform on, and your teammates are counting on you.

Per that comments that was from 2016 Rio.

Winning time 41.01

Which wasn't even a US record. The 2012 ladies were faster.

I haven't watched much of the Olympics but just noticed an Olympic app in VR. I decided to watch the women's gymnastics all around. I've never seen the Olympics this way before. I can choose 7 different camera angles, where I am able to focus on any area of the floor. Or change to 360 mode where I feel like I'm sitting in the stands and can see all around me. I can still see and hear what is on TV on a virtual screen above the action. Plus, I can see all the statistics. The coolest part is that it is all in 3D. The biggest drawback right now is that it doesn't have the biggest refresh rate at 72Mhz being the top. So anything a little in the distance does become a little blurry. Better WIFI and improvement in technology will help.

And NBC is blaming Covid and Simone Biles for their ratings being down.

Under 10 in the 3rd qtr, USA up 17. So 5min in the 2nd to 10 in the 3rd is a 32 point turnaround.

We medaled in the most women’s events ever, and the least number of men’s events since like 1896.

Track men did not get any individual golds which is almost unheard of. The men’s 4 x 100 relay team was a disgrace.
