US is putting pressure on other countries too, so will be a lot more.

I’m sure a bunch of stuffed shirts not showing up to meetings that could have been phone calls is really going to make China stop abusing its citizens and threatening their neighbors.

People are going to watch the Olympics? The US is not going to be there, along with other western countries. I don't agree with this but it is what it is.

The athletes aren't boycotting - only the diplomats.

Eebs is correct. Business as usual for athletes, just the US diplomats are going to miss the opening ceremony.

Anyone know why they have no announcers or commentary?
Was watching women's figure skating last night and sure, if they fall down they lose a point, but for casual viewers it's nice to know how they are doing otherwise.
That Russian girl just killed it. Forget the exact score, but it was like Russia 90, Japan 74 for second place. The American Chen was 5th since she fell.

Huh? What?
I’m hearing announcers both play by play and color the few times I’ve been watching.
Make sure your mute button is not on…

Are you watching Peacock? All I heard was the arena announcer, and most often not in English.

That's totally different than the NBC/NBC affiliates & USA broadcasts, You can stream any and all events at the Olympics so it doesn't mean each event will have an announcer. Happens with other sports on Peacock like Soccer.

Is it me or do we suck overall at the Winter Olympics?
The last winter Olympics we came in 4th on the medal count.
I was told that we are #1 in everything…
You're thinking of per capita gun ownership and incarceration rates.
Don't forget COVID deaths and white supremacists!

The most on brand thing I’ve seen today: Russia doping 15 year olds.
Later on this week it will be the IOC’s limp dick response to Russia doping 15 year olds.

And with kids too. That’s a pretty big win.

When I heard on NPR it was closed today, I went WTF?
Sure not like the old days.
I saw a few events, but after the Russian teen was given a pass for doping, after the black American woman was banned for smoking weed during the summer games, it really dropped my interest level.

You missed the American model and skier who decided to compete for China instead of the US because her mom was born in China.
Surprised Fox News didn't jump all over this (maybe they did, I don't ever turn it on). After all they are always getting on LeBron and the NBA for not calling out China.

This is by far the least amount of Olympic coverage I've ever watched.
