Doesn't ASU currently have one guard in the NBA?
Actually, looking it up, ASU has one player in the NBA period: https://basketball.realgm.com/ncaa/conf ... ba-players" target="_blank

It is kind of ironic that they have shirts that say Guard U, but they are a much worse defensive team than offense, and thus are poor at actually Guarding U.

James Harden, in his illustrious career at ASU, won exactly ONE NCAA tournament game. One!!
James Harden in the NBA has never led his team to any considerable playoff success.
The fact that ASU has copied Arizona's Point Guard U mantra and created something similar is comical. But I guess that's the sincerest form of flattery. I'd be pissed if Arizona's student section tried to copy ASU's pathetic curtain of distraction. In fact, I'd be pissed if Arizona copied anything about ASU. We set the standard in this state and this conference. And come December 30, I think ASU is gonna get their asses handed to them at a raucous McKale Center the likes of which few have ever seen.

RR should brand UA football Tight End U because we had Gronk 8 years ago.
Re: Guard U
What many people don't realize about Byron Scott is that he sat out the 1981-82 season. Why? Well, during his sophomore year he shared the backcourt with Fat Lever who was a year older. Scott decided he didn't want to share the ball and the limelight with Lever. So he missed his junior year. Lever went on to greatness in the NBA. A year later, it was Scott's turn in the limelight and he parlayed that into getting drafted high and landed in the best possible spot with the Lakers. But imagine the backcourt coming back for a second year together in Scott and Lever. How far could they have gone together? Perhaps a still elusive Pac 10 title. Perhaps a final four run. We'll never know.

For all the accolades Harden gets, he still hasn't won anything as a collegian or a pro. And I never said he wasn't a good player. But his teams' lack of success can be somewhat attributed to the fact the guy can't or won't play defense.MilesSim0.0N wrote:zonagrad wrote:James Harden, in his illustrious career at ASU, won exactly ONE NCAA tournament game. Look Harden’s always been a great individual offensive player, but that’s about it. He has glaring defensive issues, notably in the give-a-damn statistic. So woo hoo! He’s the best half player in the league.

Re: Guard U
Lol this thread reeks of jealously from about 3 pages away.
The 2nd best player on his team from '13-last season was a 6'10 white guy who's yet to attempt a two-point FG in his career. Jordan wouldn't have won anything with this bunch.
What do you expect him to do, average 48 minutes and 56 points a game? Lol.
Elgin Baylor, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Chris Paul, Steve Nash, Russ Westbrook - none of 'em have ever done shit. Fuck 'em.
The one-kneed, no-kidneyed, walking dialysis played with Admiral and Duncan and won 2 rings, so I'll take him over ANY OF EM. Easy call.
How many of you on this thread are inbred?

Interesting stat. Miller came to UA same time Harden went to the NBA. Harden's teams have made the playoffs every year. Harden went to the NBA Finals once. Harden's team won 3 division titles. U of A has 3 PAC 10/12 regular season titles since Miller has been coach.

Re: Guard U
ESPN and Fox each have a certain amount of games alotted to them prior to the season. Each network chooses the games that they want prior to the season starting and whatever they don't choose goes to Pac-12 Network. Arizona/ASU needless to say wasn't expected to be a matchup of two ranked teams, so the networks missed their shot. Sucks, but that's how the system is set up.PHXCATS wrote:Semi related topic.

I know that they get selected pre season for basketball but I thought that Fox and ESPN could buy additional games if they desired from PAC-12. I would think this game would be up there in terms of what they wanted to buy from PAC-12 inventory unless than know because of the late tip and NYE that it would not make them much money after having to buy it from PAC-12.
