FWIW, Tennessee has a higher rated ‘19 class than UCLA. They were also ranked #1 at one point this past season, and he’s getting a raise. Why leave?

Trying to outbid an SEC program for a coach is not the best play right now for a PAC 12 schoolNYCat wrote:

UCLA should just raise their offer by $250,000 a year and get that thing done.

How embarrassing. They’re gonna need to hire someone with a sense of humor and thick skin.

This search reminds me of . . . Arizona’s search.
Difference is that Arizona had a year+ to put themselves in the position to get turned down by Tim Floyd.

I can’t believe another day is ending and UCLA still does not have a coach.

Cronin must feel the love. Nothing like being the 7th choice. This is turning into a public relations nightmare.

I am so glad we are not looking for a coach right now.
This is not a good look for UCLA.

Jason "I'm a Cali sorta guy" Kapono should be moving way up on the UCLA hot board.

When is Dan Guerrero going to start taking real heat for botching another hiring chance within the span of a week? And I don’t mean from angry Bruin Alums in the comments section of blog posts. I mean from big boosters, donors, LA Times, or even a homer politician as happens in the South? Is DG that big of an institutional fixture in the UC system?

Is UCLA still pursuing any high level ‘19 prospects? If so, I’d think other coaches chasing these players are loving all of this.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
How many schools is it now that have had to give their coach a raise because of UCLA. They are probably responsible for a 1% increase in the GDP.
Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
Not what I meant. UCLA may have standing scholarship offers. Whoever gets hired will have to come in and decide to leave or pull those offers, and then resume recruitment of high priorities.ChooChooCat wrote:They don't have a coaching staff to pursue anybody currently Beach...Beachcat97 wrote:Is UCLA still pursuing any high level ‘19 prospects? Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
When a new coaching staff takes over the most that's expected out of them is honor the scholarships offered to currently committed prospects or in UCLA's case currently signed prospects. An uncommitted guy that has a UCLA offer at the moment means absolutely nothing. At the moment UCLA has two 2019 commitments and they'd be committed to UCLA whether John Calipari was coaching there or RiseandFire were coaching there and only one of them is really any good.Beachcat97 wrote:Not what I meant. Re: UCLA Basketball in trouble!
UCLA has no open scholarship offers with the three guys they have committed already. They we're two scholarships over before the declarations

UCLA falls backwards into Mick Cronin, everyone laughs, then Cronin kills it there and becomes one of the best coaches they have ever had.
