When you look at the box score you gotta wonder how the cats pulled it off, it seems they were doing everything they could to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory...

We only got 4 more rebounds and 1 more assist...HOWEVER:

We did have 9 less fouls (which is like 33%) and 6 less turnovers (50%) than they did...

So not fouling and taking care of the ball, which was the lesson from about 2 weeks ago that Miller was harping on...this in spite of PAC 12 refs calling charges on Nico that were clearly flops by USC...

This win is clearly in the Miller column and most people who want him gone don't give a rats ass, but here we are...he's doing everything he can to put these guys in a position to go as far as they can and win against really good teams...and mark my words USC is a contender they have some really skilled players and experience, they're gonna cause some noise in the tourney.

You do understand that Stone Gettings was out an entire month because of a facial fracture? That negated any attempt by Miller to leverage better production from Jeter. (I'm sorry, but Christian Koloko, while showing promise, also has huge holes to his game). So yes, Jeter was playing more than his production justified. After missing a month of action, it naturally has taken Gettings some time to get acclimated. Jeter, while injury prone, has been healthy enough to play. And Miller finally has the leverage to go with the guys that give him the best opportunity to win. You fail to recognize that not all players are created equal. Some shoot it better, rebound it better, defend it better, etc... Miller has to pick which skill set according to game situation, opponent, etc... And sometimes some players are given the opportunity to acquit themselves on defense (Hazzard, Baker) and when they aren't getting the job done the coach has to go to a player (Smith) who defends well but is a liability in other areas. If you're paying attention, Miller is making some great adjustments. These aren't perfect players. Everyone has some flaws. And sometimes the opponent has good players too.

What’s the rumor someone dropped in the i game thread last night about nico going Italy after the season?

I meant he could end up there if it doesn't work in the NBA. He's probably a career backup at best. He has good vision but not elite quickness or explosiveness, and his jumper is clunky and doesn't go in enough. Not to mention defense. I'm pretty certain he's OAD regardless since the draft is quite weak.

He will only improve with age and increased spacing at the next level. He's a great example of a player with game tailor made for the NBA vs. college. If you watch and think otherwise, your confirmation bias is showing

It’s a weak draft so if he’s 1R he should probably bolt. But I’m not sure how good his O game will translate to the L. He should do ok as he will put stress on D w PnR but his jumper is clunky and slow and streaky, his passing is good sometimes but sometimes he’s a TO machine, and he’s going to get bodied up a lot and he doesn’t handle it well.

One thing i do know, however, is he will get absolutely abused on D in the L. Like worse than Trae Young and he’s nowhere near the instant offense Trae is. If i were a GM i wouldn’t even consider him til bottom of 1st round. I’d take either pg from Tobacco Road before him and a few others i think. Honestly all 3 of our frosh run the risk of washing out of the nba if they leave after year. They all have to improve tremendously if they want to stick. But again, this draft is historically weak. Like Stromile Swift going 2nd weak, so they should all probably leave if they get 1R guarantees.

Miller already said Nico’s OAD, so we can probably let go of any hope he’ll play another year of college ball. This is part of why Akinjo chose AZ.

As for Miller, my main gripe over the last few seasons is that the team doesn’t seem to improve over the course of the season. Maybe individual players show growth, but the team as a whole continues to struggle in the same ways they did back in December.

Anyway, not sure if his job is realistically in jeopardy (I’m guessing it isn’t), but it’s going to be a long summer.
