No doubts that Cronin would do so, but Cronin is very reminiscent of Miller. His teams just don’t cut it amongst the top tiers when it comes to adaptability, making adjustments, recruiting your type of player, while also landing high major talent

Definitely excited to see someone worthwhile though unlike Alford

The new normal for three players. Don’t know how much more widespread it gets from there.

School is not for everyone, and the G league is ideal for such players. I imagine Ndude Ebi would have been better off going to the G league instead of sitting on the end of the bench for 2 years for the Wolves.

Some players just don't like college, and having to deal with the classes and homework. Plenty of parties and groupies for pro players too.

All true, Merk. I'm hoping that over time we'll see a sea change in the culture of college hoops recruiting where guys like Nix and Ebi aren't even prioritized. It's a waste of time and resources for UCLA or Arizona or whoever to court these guys and then have this happen a few months before the guy is expected to enroll in school. High risk, high reward, I suppose. But I'd love to see the younger generation of college coaches start driving up the value of 3/4 year players. I don't think it's really debatable that a 3 year 4-star player is usually worth more than a OAD 5-star player.

Gimme Tark for sure. Ayton couldn't get out of the first round. Tark got to two E8s and a S16.

Ayton would have excelled under Lute. But Zeus was much better and much more effective giving hedge screens out on the perimeter.

Ayton was way too important inside to be defending smaller players out there.

Zeus made other players better, Ayton was already the best player.

Ayton also played a lot out of position at the 4 with Dusan clogging the lane. Put a 4 like bash or a 3/4 like RHJ with him and those results might be different.

It's really inconceivable to me that someone would rather play in Tulsa, or whatever shithole city for 50k a year, rather than spend a year or two being a god (with all of the attendant benefits above and below the table) at Arizona, UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas or UNC. Duke is a different kind of experience than the others but I assume the players spend about as much time on the Duke campus as the Rice baseball players did back in my days there.

It's not like these kids are really spending any meaningful time on academics in their first year or two. It doesn't take much fucking effort to pass 12 credits of rocks for jocks and intro to geography.

This is why kids are skipping NCAA

G League Development Program Revamped, Includes $500K Salaries
The NBA and G League development program for top high school prospects has been restructured, including salaries and incentives of $500K or more, as well as playing exhibitions rather than regular G League contests, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony and Adrian Wojnarowski report. Previously, the program offered prospects a $125K salary.

The revamped program helped entice ESPN’s No. 1 high school prospect, Jalen Green, to commit to the G League rather than sign with a college team.

They aren't sticking the kids in Tulsa. They are staying in LA and a couple other places I think

UCLA has been hot garbage. Sports might be out for a bit. They are hemorrhaging money. The economy sucks.

I think a lot of UA's UCLA uniforms have been hot garbage, so I'm glad you guys are finally switching. Not that Nike has been perfect for us, but I still prefer what they do by and large.

I know the Cal chancellor has been wanting to get rid of Scott for some time, especially with their terrible stadium deal.

Maybe now the other schools will get in line.

Let's see if Nike does come around, especially since the COO of Nike is a double Bruin Alum. I'm mostly confident our AD should know what he's doing with apparel, considering he had his own line at BC that he help produce.

Tough loss for sure, but he hasn't been the same player he was last year, which is strange for a guy who has NBA aspirations. It's not that he's bad but he's been...timid? Will be good to have him next year though, if he wants to rehab at ucla

Great comeback win by the Bruins! Always will root for the Pac in the tournament unless it's ASU.

Great job by UCLA against MSU tonight. Proud that a PAC 12 team fought like hell. Good luck to the rest of the PAC teams in the tourney. I hope we have 5 teams in the sweet 16.

It was a good win for sure, especially when every loose ball seemed to go MSU's way. I also think Mick knew the NCAA tournament is officiated differently. After losing Nix, then Smith, and now Hill, at this point, it's all good, whatever the result is. Been a strange season. Hopefully Watson nd McClendon bring something for next year, and we nab a transfer PG and probably a transfer post player. Etinne isn't big enough to be the main big all season.

Great job by UCLA. So many picked MSU and I couldn't understand why. The Bruins played hard and deserved it. Best of luck to them for the rest of the tournament.
