Do you honestly believe that Sean knew Book was receiving money for steering players after they turned pro to a financial advisor? What's in it for Sean or the Arizona program? Nothing.
EastCoastCat wrote: Tue Mar 21, 2023 12:20 pm You need to catch up. There have been countless posts by well sourced people stating that this wasn't Book's first misstep.
If anyone remembers Ace Thakore and PointGuardU this was well known at the time. Although I didn't realize he was paid but it makes sense now. Just thought Book was just feeding Ace insider info for shits and grins. Didn't know how crooked Book was at the time although Ace certainly was.

Book was previously suspended by Miller for selling team info to PointguardU website for $3,000. It wouldn't be the first time he risked his career for chump change.
What is that asshole, ace, up to these days?

Okay. Never knew there was a time limit to get better at your job. I also think his strategy of necessity in recruiting foreign players has helped keep Arizona afloat. Tommy is the master so maybe that will benefit us in the next recruiting class.
We were begging SM to “find offense” since 2015.

A stable of athletes that he hamstrung into mid major motion offense. No creativity, no giving the the team the confidence to ball out.

that is unforgivable IMO

FSM for what he did to this program and its loss of institutional control.

So is pining for the Sean Miller of the first 4-5yeara at arizona.

He ain’t coming back. I’m glad he’s coaching again, but let’s not forget how maddening tight he and his teams were in the tournament.

But now he finds offense…makes me sick. And yeah, I’m a bit jealous. Love’em or hate him, his teams are built for March.

Just wish he grew as a coach while he was here and cut book loose when he was caught leaking recruiting info to a second rate local rag.

Like you said CST, I don't keep track of ex's. If he does well fine, if he fails miserably, fine too.

Same with Kriisa.

Good luck to them both, no hard feelings, but they are off my radar.

CSM was screwed over by Robbins/Heeke, so actually do wish him a bit of success but probably am done with this thread.

Fuck espin

Miller's tenure with the Wildcats ended in April 2021 after Arizona became entangled in the federal investigation into corruption in college basketball that began in 2017. One of Miller's assistants, Emanuel "Book" Richardson, was arrested and ultimately pleaded guilty to a felony count after being accused of accepting $20,000 to steer Arizona players to aspiring sports agent Christian Dawkins. Miller was allegedly linked to payments to then-Wildcats player Deandre Ayton based on an FBI-intercepted call between Richardson and Dawkins. Miller denied the allegations.

The Independent Accountability Resolution Process panel ruled in December that Miller would not face sanctions. Richardson and Mark Phelps, another former Arizona assistant, received 10- and two-year show-cause penalties, respectively, while the Arizona program received lesser sanctions after previously self-imposing a 2021 postseason ban.

The public is going to keep believing ESPN's lies until the end of time. Sigh.

Sean is doing fine, thank you! All things considered the outcome has been good for him and, I believe, his health. His future is bright!

The U of A is doing fine, thank you! IMNSHO, we have a better coach today than we did before. Our future is bright!

ESPN is struggling, laying people off, and facing a tough stretch (20% profit decline in past 9 months) as the entire sports broadcasting world is in flux (the slow death of traditional cable TV). Fuck them!

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time now as subscribers cut the cord. The carriage fees for the ESPN channels are almost $10 a month for cable.

Came up just short after having the lead for most of the game. Looked pretty evenly matched with Washington, but not one of his better teams. Sean has a lot of work to do.

He sure sounds more northeastern than he did at Arizona, and he has a Cincinnati edge to him more now.

Arizona State might have the most surprisingly anemic history in men's basketball of any program that you might think is better than it is.

Cry harder Sean.

Maybe working the ref a bit more with some decorum might let you level up.

He had 10 years to figure it out at Arizona but didn’t, them’s the breaks.

Looks like it’s same old Sean - stodgy, stubborn, reluctant to change. THATS why he’s back at Alma mater and stuck in his “tier”.

I agree, but that is quite the polar opposite duality where it exists in one person.

Types like tight Sean aren’t wired to “let it rip”

Well if you say he is reluctant to change you have not watch one X game because their offense looks alot like Arizona's now and don't take my word for it look at their pace vs when he was a Az.

Sean was a great coach and exceptional recruiter at Arizona. Saw X in a way to early top 25 list. Heard him talk about all he learned while out of basketball and pace and offensive flow. Love his fire. I think the year away from the game was good for his health and he will do fine at X. Congrats on your kids graduating from the U of A.

He said the same thing. Made him not so bullheaded in his offense and defense, and was able to learn new things. Spent a lot of time with Archie, but both ended up with losing seasons.
