Rasheed Sulaimon
Kicked off of Duke...
"Rasheed has been unable to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program," coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. "After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program."
Ouch!

This is hilarious after the "K cares about his players" 1K tripe, multiple K interviews on RTP sports talk all this week.
Such a douche bag.
K loves throwing players under the bus. "um what I care about, um, is character..." bullsh*t K.

Yeah, K doesn't really do this, so I'm guessing ole Rasheed was getting under his skin in a pretty major way.

Really wonder what the hell happened...
Per insiders, Sulaimon loved playing for Duke.
Miller should offer. That would be awesome is its already known that Miller owns K.

They are even more screwed defensively, now. Wow. For K let him go at this time, must have been really bad. Otherwise this makes no sense. The Blue Devils may be a better team off the court without Sulaimon, but his departure will hurt them in many ways on it. They lose an emergency ballhandler, length on the perimeter and, in his best moments, a fluid attacking player with long-range shooting ability.
Sulaimon's Duke career was, to say the least, erratic. As a freshman, he looked like he was on the verge of becoming one of the ACC's dominant players, a dangerous perimeter scorer who could shoot and get to the rim, only to have his role publicly minimized by Krzyzewski before his sophomore season even began, in favor of Jabari Parker and Rodney Hood.

Notice K waited until after he hit 1,000 wins. Can't let anything detract from his personal glory.

Know you are just joking, but no major program is going to give up a scholarship for 2 years just to get 1 year from a player who has such issues he is the first player ever to get kicked off of Duke basketball.CalStateTempe wrote:That would be awesome is its already known that Miller owns K.
Nope, not after losing 2 in a row to unranked teams on his way to 1000.Chicat wrote:Notice K waited until after he hit 1,000 wins. Can't let anything detract from his personal glory.

After 1K wins
Facts:
(1) In good standing academically.
(2) Not in legal trouble (to our knowledge).
(3) Committed conduct serious enough to immediately be dismissed from the program the day following a game he played a lot in.
It must have been something either offensive or personal to K IMO.
I have heard from a source in Durham that the reason he was dismissed was because he was detrimental to the team
Has to be substance abuse of some kind. And not the harmless leaf type. Either that or some unseemly conduct with a family member or academic person. Something that required no deliberation and merited an immediate reaction.
Has anyone ever been kicked out of the program in the middle of a season?
UNCs players can hardly read and win titles.
Ours are good academically but get booted.
https://twitter.com/jjones9/status/560922205832634369Laura Keeley just reported that it has nothing to do with anything on court. That it was a recurring issue off the court.
I'm thinking substance abuse.
This is EXACTLY when insiders should chime in b/c otherwise this is going to get completely out of hand. Want to convince people to pay for Premi? Show them you know stuff.

#masterbate-emoticonHonestly, this is why I love K. He has his morals and standards and doesn't bend them for everyone. Everyone getting pissed saying I can't believes he's doing this and leaving us with 8 players need to get a grip. Some things are bigger than winning and this is why I chose K and Duke as my team.
A student I am somewhat familiar with said that if what he has heard from some friends in the athletic department (athletes, not on BB team) is true, then Sheed doesn't need to be on the team.
On DBR, a poster who is in CIS claims that the event staff setting up for the women's game are not at all surprised, but that they won't give up the deets.
https://twitter.com/stevewisemanNC/stat ... 3410869248Trust in K.
Pray for Sheed. Whatever the cause, I'm sure he's absolutely devastated right now. He loved Duke and K.
https://twitter.com/jhairston15/status/ ... 0195279872Agreed. I may not agree with every single thing K does, but I trust him on the big things. He wouldn't do something like this for petty or small reasons. And don't buy the BS article that will come out about it being a lot of little things. There was a big thing. We may never know what it was, but it existed.

Another crack in the wall, starting when the CATS boatraced K in 2011.
I think Duke is going to crumble faster than expected, much like the fall of the Berlin Wall debated in the other thread, right Katz?
The game has passed K by, but he isn't going to go quietly.

Re: Rasheed Sulaimon
I wonder if K is going to develop some mysterious back pain this season and have to "rest"? Going to have a hard time finding another interim coach after he threw that one coach under the bus.
I was just reading an old article the other day about Lute and the Brandon Jennings fiasco. Lute said after BJ took off to Europe he was through recruiting one and dones.
Forgot what Duke game I was watching a couple weeks ago, but could not believe there was 4 black players on the court for Duke. This is Duke?Katzenfreund wrote:There has been quite some displeasure recently within parts of the Dook faithful over Krzyzewski's aggressive switch to one-and-done recruits.

Brandon Jennings was a none and done. Couldn't qualify. Not really a one and done issue, not sure why he would single out his recruitment.

Re: Rasheed Sulaimon
I'm sorry, does that say 1) multiple sexual assault allegations 2) from 2013-2014 season?
And he played for 2/3 of this year before being dismissed?
Duke found out about these charges in March 2014? You'd think they'd have a handle on what they wanted to do by the start of the basketball season November 2014, six months later. But we all know how that goes...($$$)

Re: Rasheed Sulaimon
In light of this new info we should take a second look at K's statement...
"Rasheed has been unable to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program," such as not sexually assaulting people.
"After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations," of not sexually assaulting people, "it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program" especially since I had already reached 1000 wins and I knew he had sexually assaulted someone almost a year ago.
