Re: Kansas
Good showing by the second-best team in Kansas, coming back at home against a West Virginia team without its best player, Juwan Staten.

That's how champions roll. Without two cornerstones of their rotation (Ellis and Alexander) we just win.
West Virginia would finish 3rd in the Pac12.

Comes to crow less than 2 hours after a win.
Slinks back 4 days after a loss.
I'm no mathematician but there seems to be a slight disparity there.

Feels like Arizona is on a different level than Kansas right now, it's not even that fun, kind of like going toe to toe with UCLA.

Re: Kansas
Honest question here - how streaky is Kansas in-game this year??
They were down 18 at home last night? Won in OT
They were blowing out Utah earlier this year - maybe up 20? I'm not exactly sure, but then barely won. Get blown out by Kentucky & Temple - def shouldn't have been blown out in one of those games. I feel like there are even more examples but I'm not going to go dig them up.
Talk about a contrast to our team. Self & Miller could not be more fundamentally different as coaches.
Is Kansas always like this with the huge runs both ways? Or is this specific to this year.

West Virginia would probably finish 3rd in the PAC. What's the point of that comment?
I'd probably not be running my mouth about KU this year...just my personal opinion. I think the addition of another year on the Big XII banner will be the highlight of this year for KU.

Re: Kansas
Meanwhile, Thomas Robinson, pinnacle of Self's big-man coaching, is now on his fifth team in four years. Here are some relevant comments about his ability:
Well, his skill set doesn't match what any NBA team wants to do offensively. Can't dribble, can't shoot, can't post up.
He's basically a little poorer man's Kenneth faried or however you spell that. He needs to get some real post moves and be a consistent offensive threat if he ever wants starting playing time. His points are usually opportunistic and unreliable
However, Robinson definitely has thorns. His post game is ugly, as is his mid-range shot, where he is shooting 31.8 percent this season, per Basketball-Reference. He’s foul-prone, averaging five per-36 minutes, and almost equally turnover prone, especially in the post. He hasn’t really made any huge jumps defensively, either. And that’s before we get to the questions about how seriously Robinson takes the NBA.
He's averaging 4 and 4 and, fittingly, has started 4 games in his career. Oh, and if anyone's curious how Miller's big men are doing in the NBA:
Derrick Williams: 8 and 4 (86 games started)
Solomon Hill: 9 and 4 (55 games started)

Re: Kansas
Their RPI ranking shows the flaw in that metric. It's all well and good to play a ton of great teams, but the "#2" team in the country should have beaten more than a handful of them.

Looking at who they beat, where they beat them and and when they beat them (at least as far as ranked teams go), I would probably rank them around #15 in the country. For someone to make the argument they are the #2 team in the country (and I know that's where RPI has them) feels pretty insane.
I'll go a little further: as a 3 seed they're probably overrated. Four is probably more appropriate so you don't get an unbalanced bracket.

Re: Kansas
I'm trying to figure out how they would win the PAC-12 like the mighty enflamo said. They would lose at Arizona just like the last 38 teams, and at Utah (only won by 3 on a "neutral" court). Both are higher in almost every metric ( Sagarin, BPI, and Kenpom)
Apparently they would sweep their other 16 games and be co-champs with UofA.

Re: Kansas
Unbiased opinion... OU would win the Pac-12.
Are you all really criticizing Kansas when two starters and a rotation player (on the road) didn't play and another starter is playing on a bad ankle and we lost on a tip in with 0.02 seconds left on the clock to a top 20 team? Fyi - Arizona has only played one team in the top 25 since the beginning of Pac-12 play.
Let that sink in....

Re: Kansas
Of course for Kansas that's the bet I'm proposing. But Enfuego will say he didn't come back today or tomorrow or whatever other day he needs to say to not technically be a part of the bet because he knows what will happen.catgrad97 wrote:How about a side bet that a seven-loss team isn't getting a 2 seed.
The important lesson here actually is for the lower boards: when you know what a person's disposition is, when you know what a nation is going to do, you can use that against them. Here, there, wherever: I know what your disposition is, and I can use it against you to trap you. To put you in an untenable place.
Here Enfuego will NEVER respond to my bet. He can't; he's in a lose/lose spot. And what's the worse case for me? I lose $100?
I've won before he's even responded because I've trapped him into saying Kansas is a 2 seed.
