Alford had managed to avoid the Ben Howland/Steve Lavin mid-major trip up in Pauley. Oh well

I have to wonder if Alford didn't prep the team as if Monmouth had a chance to pull the upset. Everyone seemed real lackadaisical right up till the end there. As if they thought just having UCLA on their jersey meant they'd pull that one out.

Losing at home to Monmouth to start the season is some good work.

5/17 shooting for Bryce.

UCLA essentially has players for two positions, Center and SG. Not the best combination

He actually wasnt handling the ball that much yesterday, when Holiday was on the floor, he handled the PG spot until near the end of the game.

AZ is usually the best team on UCLA's schedule, current season excluded.

UCLA is usually about the 7th or 8th best team on our schedule.

For them yes. Good thing cal poly doesn't have the UCLA/Arizona football mindset or they'd be running UCLA out of the gym by 30

Coach Alford called this a "program-changing" win for his team and that "4th or 5th place in the Pac is definitely doable this year."

He has to be thinking I've pretty much owned this conference the last two years , I play at max capacity every night, basketball is life here while Alford is not a good coach, nobody is showing up, they should have no real momentum to speak of and somehow they beat me in recruiting. Hey, at least he didn't accuse UCLA of cheating, lol

I don't see that as being beat. We came out better with LM anyway. And besides Adidas beat Arizona there. UCLA didn't beat Arizona.

I'd say it's more a reflection of being harder to recruit in SoCal for no reason other than shoe wars. He's going to have to rely on national recruits, transfers, and Euros. It'll be harder but not difficult for Arizona. Howland essentially lost California as a recruiting ground and while he did recruit natiomally, he pieced the team together poorly.

RC97 has got to be worried about why Milier would waste his breath on a team with minimal consequences to Arizona

I'm a bit lost here. So now SoCal is locked up by Alford because TJ Leaf decommited?
