Sean somehow getting his brother back on the bench and in the middle of the program would immediately increase his chances of getting back on track, laser focus back in on on basketball, and perhaps become what many thought he was truly destine to become several years ago - one of the winningest coaches of all time.
I can't come up with any reason why bringing Archie back would not be good. It's obviously a landing spot you think he'd consider, and it would mean we landed a top level coach and recruiter who's 100% in sync with our HC.
Looking back at the 2011 team, we made an Elite Eight with a 6'7, 6'7, 6'6 front line. Plus, Momo as our PG wasn't particularly traditional. That team was probably the best coached in the time I've been an Arizona fan.

I dont get it, he left after 2011. He was here two years. I think he is a great assistant coach, but I would argue Pasternak contributed more to the program then Archie and actual results back that up.

Danny Peters could get a job as AHC/lead recruiter at just about any mid-tier program. I’m confident Sean could find him a new gig.Spaceman Spiff wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 11:35 amWhoever's got to. He seems the most logical. JET is a beloved guy completing his first year. Murphy is the most experienced.
Peters is young with an upwards trajectory. I agree that it wouldn't be odd for him to be a lead assistant at a midmajor immediately. He was a GA and directeor of basketball ops when Pasternack was here. Maybe reunite with Joe?

Looking online UCSB has an AHC who came from Boise with Pasternack and got promoted to AHC before this year. Part of me wonders if Pasternack will be at UCSB when the wheel begins spinning, though, so I think there's a lot of dominos left. I could see Joe being in line for a decent P5 job.

One trip to the UCSB campus and it would be an easy decision to make. Especially if you are leaving Tucson in the summer when it's 105, and 75 in Goleta.

Re: Sean Miller
With $10M in his pocket he can work cheap too. Same with JeT, neither needs the piddly UA salary to live on.
I wonder if Archie's contract is written like Sumlin's and Sean's, where if he gets fired he needs to look for work to mitigate damages.

Re: Sean Miller
I half wonder if we could just find some random title to allow Archie to coach and recruit for us if we can't lose a current assistant.
He certainly doesn't need immediate $ at this point, which is a partial reason I think it's not unrealistic to think he'd come coach with Sean for 2 years.
This is my ideal scenario. Archie rejoins and helps us make a nice run next year. He then helps juice the 22 recruiting class and helps us have a big 22-23. Then, he's helped solidfy his brother and should have an open door to return as an HC to a decent program. He's still young, so there's nothing weird about that path, IMO.

Re: Sean Miller
We could bring him on as a minimally paid “consultant” but he wouldn’t be able to recruit or travel with the team. To my knowledge there’s no title other than Assistant that would allow Archie to participate in practices, sit on the bench during games, and recruit on our behalf.Spaceman Spiff wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 1:18 pmI half wonder if we could just find some random title to allow Archie to coach and recruit for us if we can't lose a current assistant.

Re: Sean Miller
Think of the recruiting ties now added in the mid-west where Archie was living/working. Bet there are some that would follow Archie if Sean wanted them. Sean Miller can channel his inner Tombstone and declare " them em I'm coming and hells coming with me".

I know there are competition differences, but it's worth noting Lute's best 6 year run was .800% from 1997-2003. He had 3 regular season Pac titles during that run.Jefe wrote: ↑Fri Mar 12, 2021 3:04 pm178-39 .820%. It's something I say often about Miller. Pre-FBI, he compared to Lute about as well as anyone could be expected to.

Yeah. That’s going to be the understanding of 95%+ of the sports fan universe.
And it will be that way forever. ESPN decided they were going to destroy his name...and they did.
Re: Sean Miller
ESPN better be a bit more careful because they now see the notice of allegations and there is no payment of player's listed. Sean is a public figure so bringing suit is not easy but if you print something that you should have known was false you are on shaky ground.
In all seriousness they have really ruined his reputation and damaged his value. How he handles it so well is remarkable because he is a fiery guy.

Nothing is going to happen to ESPN.
They will never post any kind of retraction or correction.
Most likely they will keep lying about it, it the ways that they can. Forever.

However, one the IARP is settled and Miller is still our coach, I would enjoy him calling out specific people by name (Schlabach, Vitale, Bilas) for their egregious behavior and comments. They certainly deserve it—especially Vitale because he continues to be so vocal in spite of the situations at KU. Schlabach has basically admitted he was wrong by going silent on Twitter and refusing to back up his bullshit story. He printed a defense attorney’s wild allegations and presented it as fact, not knowing if any of the story was remotely true and then hid behind attribution to “an unnamed source.” Journalistically it’s as weak as you can get.
