yet they would probably easily beat any team in the country the way they are playing today
I guess that’s the point. Sometimes you are Michigan, sometimes you are Texas A&M. And nothing to be done about it. It’s a crapshoot.

I do not understand that strategy by Musselman. 6 second difference, down 1 and no foul?

I mean, it's a choice, but it seems like a bad one.

Offense and defense both win championships. But guard play wins them most of all.

Watching yesterday’s games, and comparing to our own this season, it’s clear we would’ve had a s16 ceiling if we even got past Kentucky.

Our guard play was atrocious and it took specifically and objectively focusing on the guard play of the s16 teams to see/acknowledge that.

2010-Millers first year, but gave a lot of heart
2011-Toughest teams survive, nastiness is required
2012-Shit show because of thatever that fucks name was
2013-Toughness
2014-Nasty team that played together and smart
2015-Nasty team that played together and smart
2016-Started getting soft
2017-Semi tough team but Lauri didnt want the ball and the one guy that was everything you wanted out of PG outside of talent was in foul trouble
2018-Got punked

My suggestion, get tough smart guys who want the damn ball, not punks who a mental midgets that crumble under pressure

What's interesting to me about this, in hindsight, is looking at which recruits we prioritized (and maybe even landed) versus the ones we passed on. Which guys that we passed on turned out to be tough and smart college players?

Bigger issue, though: our prep evaluation needs to be tighter. As much as I love Trier, was there someone else in his class -- maybe even a 4 year guy -- who would've been a more valuable player in March? I'd ask the same about Rawle. I love those two, but what do we have to show for their time at AZ?

It's crazy, isn't it? It makes the notion of "talent" seem silly or irrelevant. I mean, Duke is still around, so there's that. They've arguably supplanted UK as the nation's leader in one-and-done-ism. I really hope Cuse beats them tonight.

But yeah, I wonder how many guys on Loyola, K-State or Nevada were recruited by Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, or UNC. Coaches who can do more with "less" are really something. How did Brad Stevens take Butler to back to back FFs?

Talent is important as the probability of winning definitely goes up when you have more talent than the other team. We just didn't have the right talent at the guard spots. All our guards had pretty much the same weakness, can't defend and can't create for others off the dribble. Trier was the only one who could create but in isolation. This effectively eliminated our advantage on the inside.

Stevens had some talent. Gordon Hayward is an NBA all star and Shelvin Mack has had a legit NBA career. Butler was a midmajor who scored some really legit talent. Their NC game against UConn was also probably the worst NC game of all time.

Butler is an anomaly. Most Cinderellas hit one year and disappear. Gonzaga is basically the only midmajor that has legit turned into a consistent contender.

2 minutes left in first half of Duke game. Duke in double bonus and has shot something like 16 FTs. Syracuse has shot 2 FTs, since Duke has only been whistled for 4 team fouls.

Earlier, in the Nova-WVU game, Nova was in double bonus with 10 ish minutes left, and had only been whistled for 4 fouls with about 6 minutes left.

You can't keep telling me that college officiating is not biased

West Virginia fouls a lot. Duke is duke and refs have posters of coach k on their ceilings. College officiating is biased, I'm not sure it's possible to be human and unbiased, even if you are trying not to be.

About Loyola, I think they are here to stay, they have some nice upperclassmen that will be back.
They have a good coach.
They have some history (a natty in 63?)
They have a good local recruiting base and are gonna be cool for a few years after this.
They play in a decent league (multiple bids in years past) that has a power vacuum since Wichita st left.
They have sister Jean.

Calling it. The next gonzaga/butler/wichita st. Is Loyola Chicago.
I was expecting it to be northern Iowa but I hadn't called it yet so....

These commentators are definitely one sided. Allen is 3/14 from three and they keep hyping every shot he takes. "That's a good shot for him, though." One of Jay Bilas, Grant Hill, or Dookie V are calling every fucking Duke game.

Yeah, but it's sorta like saying you would rather have your eyes poked out by Saddam Hussein's amputated toes instead of a red hot poker shoved up your ass by Robert Mugabe's pet chimpanzee.
