Archie at IU means CSM to Ohio State will probably never happen. Only have to worry about UNC and the NBA.

Indiana made a well-reasoned, and forward-thinking decision that may pay off for them for 30 years.

Great choice by IU.

Why do I feel we will play them in the Sweet 16 next year?

Sigh - still depressed.

Probably. And to be honest, I don't see UNC hiring outside the family if said coach hasn't made a FF. Maybe that changes next year, but family means so much to them, to compromise that without the FF guarantee, just doesn't seem like a UNC thing to do.

Yeah, they're staying in house or someone from the Smith/Roy coaching tree.

Plus he should talk to Rich Rod on what it's like not to be a Michigan man.

A like Archie a lot, but for how great everyone keeps trying to tell me this job is the hire feels a bit underwhelming.

Some people said similar things when U of A hired Sean. Great hire by IU and I will he rooting hard for Archie and IU.

Very mixed feelings from IU fans. I can only assume that Mack said no and don't bother waiting for me. Plus Mack is a cincy boy

IU is a destination school. They are on the same level as UA when it comes to college basketball. When you add that they are in basketball heartland that is a great job. BTW the Indiana campus is one of the most beautiful campuses you will ever see. Brown County is pretty cool. Archie made the right choice.

I think it's outside of the top 10 best jobs, but quite a few think it (somehow) is still in there. I think Indiana was one more bad to above-average hire from killing off the little bit left of what makes it great. Archie is probably the home run hire that comfortably pushes that job back into the top 10 in a couple years and makes it sexy enough again that one would only leave for a couple of the "giants." Which sounds familiar to what his brother did here. Steve Alford would have been the death of Indiana.

Damnit.

Georgetown inquires about Mike Brey, Shaka Smart but will land neither as coach

Georgetown initially aimed high in its attempt to replace John Thompson III and reached out to both Notre Dame’s Mike Brey and Texas’ Shaka Smart, a source told CBS Sports. But the source added that Brey and Smart each respectfully declined to pursue the job. So Georgetown’s search remains wide open.

A guy who can recruit. Tony Bland is my choice if he's willing to come, he can even be associate head man.

Yeah it's going to be interesting to see what Romar wants as he's going to have other opportunities (between HC at more mid major types and broadcasting).

Can we raise enough money to create a competitive opportunity? Stay tuned.

Lot of people thought that Neal was the reason for Alford's success in UNM. Obviously not. Some guys are just meant to be assistants

Exactly. People are falling all over themselves about the hire but because Ewing is back at his alma mater and he and Mullin will play each other twice a year. It doesn't matter if both teams suck. GT was aiming for some big time coaches and struck out all around. Suspect hire in my opinion.

I really will never understand the concept of hiring a "he's our kinda guy cuz he went here 20/30/40 years ago and will of course win" logic.

High risk hire, but not necessarily bad. Ewing is generally regarded as a decent coach, but recruiting is a complete unknown.
