Might push him past Pastner, last column in max bonus:

http://www.cincinnati.com/story/blogs/2 ... s/7215763/

Memphis Josh Pastner $2,650,000 $0 $2,650,000 $710,000
Arizona Sean Miller $2,200,000 $427,806 $2,627,806 $985,000

http://tucson.com/sports/college/wildca ... ?id=201408

The big number

$50,000 — Sean Miller's bonus for winning the Pac-12 tournament championship. That’s on top of the $50,000 he already won for the Pac-12 regular season title and $40,000 for winning 25 or more games.

Texas could pay more.

But Arizona is where Sean will be for a very long time.

no way CSM leaves for texas, but is barnes really on the hot seat? i know their new(ish) AD is a basketball guy, but fans and locals there probably care more about texas high school football than UT basketball. it's cultural. texas is playing in the postseason, isn't that usually enough for the burnt oranges? this is also why barnes has long had one of the best jobs in college basketball.

Texas has more appeal than people give them credit for.

Not only can Texas pay more than any other school in the country, its located in an incredible city, unlimited resources and access to recruits, Texas has its very own network (far more exposure than the PAC-12 network), relaxed expectations, and Texas essentially owns the Big 12, so CSM wouldn't have to deal with Larry Scott or other perceived problems with the conference.

If Texas reached out to Sean Miller, I would be extremely surprised if he had interest. But Texas has a lot going for it.

CSM had a very difficult time leaving Xavier due to his loyalty to the program. Remember he first turned down Arizona.

As painful as that was for him and his family, I doubt he wants to go through that again.

Besides, he is stacked here at Arizona for years to come. Why start over again?

Texas also doesn't give a sh*t about basketball. He's going to go from Arizona to permanent second fiddle at best, regardless of pay?

Not 97cats, but calling it right now:

Miller to Texas = zero chance

Again, Texas has a ton of potential in basketball.

I believe they were the 9th highest revenue generating program in the country last year. (I could be wrong, I know they were in the top 15). That's awfully high for a school that hasn't had much on court success and "doesn't care about basketball".

But I think he realizes now that anything he can do at an East Coast Blueblood, he can do at Arizona just as well. I don't see Coach Miller ripe for poaching anytime soon.

AZ is solid. Love our coach and program.

I think one thing we've seen in pro and college fanbases, is that a regions "traditional" sport can easily be usurped by 2-3 years losing combined with the "secondary" sport 2-3 years of winning.

If it wasn't for ****ing Wisconsin, there would still be zero losses to a lower seed too. Oh well, today will just have to stand as a monument to Miller having a team ready roll when it counts. That was a higher seed game today: knock them down immediately then stomp them out when they're down.

A lot going for it minus fan support. Arizona is a better basketball job than Texas and it's not close. Call me silly or naive, but I don't think Arizona loses Sean Miller for any job that isn't a NBA one at this juncture. He's more than paid enough, he has all the support he could ever ask for, runs the second most profitable program in the country, and he completely owns a region of the country on the court and off it. Outside of him believing that he can't win it all with California basketball players (CA has the most players in the NBA at the moment) there's no reason for him to ever go to another college job.

I love Lute but one thing that is noticeable so far, albeit the sample size is still small, is that Miller's consistent performance in the NCAAs.....love that in 4 appearances at Arizona, we don't have any disastrous first or second round upset flameouts!

Bear Down Coach Miller!

Miller teams are much, much tougher than Lute's were, even if they may not be as aesthetically pleasing.
