Weeks ago she said he had his mind made up already and that she was sworn to secrecy.
She could be messin' with people... or he could have changed his mind (many times) - which is what she told the SF Chronicle guy who has been tweeting.

We'll know in a few minutes...

His mom really tried to build some suspense there. A for effort, D for execution.

Can't wait to slaughter Cal next year. Circle it on your calendars boys...

Chose Cal, so mom's quote was BS. LOL.

Why would she bring in red and blue balloons???

Oh well. Can't blame a kid for staying home. He will be scoring 18/8 on an nit team instead of 12/6 on a conference title possibly final 4 team but no reason to be upset with the kid.

Further investigation (camera moving closer) reveals that there were gold and white balloons hiding behind the red and blue ones.

The presser in his hometown should have been obvious... I let hope cloud my judgment.

He seems like a pretty good kid, listening to his comments. No ill will for him...

Funny thing is as soon as he said Cal probably 90%+ of the people instantly turned the feed off..

The other 10% that were Cal fans wanted to see what he said next.

meh, who cares.

I'm going to enjoy watching him underperform to the hype while at Cal.

Equally going to enjoy the annual "CATS fans descend on Hass Pavilion and really piss off the Cal fans in attendance" party, especially this year.

On to better things.

Whoever immediately moved this to arch rivals is a good man.

This is like a Tucson kid committing to Arizona over Alabama in football during the lean Stoops years.

Yea I'm trying to imagine some 5* player from oro valley choosing us over usc or Oklahoma in 2005.

I guess we shouldn't be too disappointed. All signs pointed to Cal for a long time. Too bad Montgomery did not stick around for another year. Maybe I am wrong, but Montgomery >> Martin.

It wasn't Carey, remember, he was a "Tucson only good" player and a 3-star recruit. Also, Adam Hall is not from Oro Valley.

Are you thinking Rabb might tear his ACL twice now? I'm not ready to make that correlation yet.

At each other. Scheer is saying winning isn't important to Rabb, and Berk seems to be taking offense.

Again, the only real issue is that this bruises the AZ ego a bit. It is always nice to celebrate a top ten commit. But at the end of the day, Anderson will be more NCAA ready. Rabb may have more of an NBA future, but his commitment elsewhere won't have a negative impact on the court next year. Time to move on.

I think this speaks to how good Rabb must be, he obviously doesn't Feel he needs coaching to get better. Hence picking a incredible subpar coach. He also doesnt feel he needs to play in the tournament to up his draft stock. Good for him.

Good luck, Ivan. Can't fault a kid for wanting to stay local. We call it 'loyalty' when Arizona kids do that.
