My favorite part about this game is that it's a rematch of the seventh place game in Atlantis in November with a birth to the Sweet 16 on the line.

That is amazing. Think that speaks more to the progress of the teams rather than the depth of that tourney. Who you are in November is not who you will become March

The Bruins really need to close out on shooters, or force UAB to have to drive in the lane where the bigs are. UAB is deadeye from the perimeter.

Just stay home on shooters!

They should give Alford a 5 year extension with a $20million buyout before the game ends.

I didn't get to see UCLA play this year before today. I'm surprised their record is this bad the way they are playing. Bryce Alford and Tony Parker have looked great.

Anybody think that UCLA could beat Gonzaga? If they foul Karnowski out?

If they keep shooting well then yes they can. That's assuming the Zags get by what appeared to be a hot Iowa team.

Congrats to the Bruins. Good job. Now we and Utah need to get it done and maybe even Oregon.

Go Pac 12

That would make for a good storyline - Alford vs Iowa.

Very surprising, but this was one of UCLA's best performances all year. It was when Bryce went from a chucking spot up shooter to throwing the ball inside all game. 50 points in the paint or so. Zaga is going to be a tough, tough game

I'm not convinced that Gonzaga is going to beat Iowa.

UCLA really impressed me in our game vs them in Vegas. Immediately after the game, I wash bit disappointed because I expected us to handle them much more easily than we did. Then after reflecting on the game, I felt like we played solidly in the second half - and had to acknowledge that UCLA deserved a lot of credit for their performance in that game. They were far better than I had given them credit for.

That team is much improved from what it was earlier in the season.

Gonzaga is loaded at every position. I think they can handle Iowa and UCLA for that matter pretty easily. Still, go Bruins!

I've watched a lot of Iowa this year, and I'm pretty convinced that they can beat Gonzaga. It will be an uphill battle, but Iowa is a really good, tough team that has been playing really good basketball recently.

Gonzaga is better, but it would be a really good game.

If UCLA can underachieve both on the court and on the recruiting trail and then pull unexpected Sweet Sixteens out of their anal cavity periodically from now until forever, I'll die a happy man.

Reminds me of the Lavin years, just need for Alford to not have that awful year Lavin had.

Iowa was arguably the most impressive team in the round of 64.

UCLA gifted a tournament birth, gifted a non-play in game, gifted a game on a goaltend (though it was the right call) and then gifted a 14 seed to get to sweet 16.

But good on them for taking advantage of it and on the bright side, the pac 12 is 6-0

I'd say it's not likely. Still, ucla's progress was an over achievement but that's merely a moral victory which doesn't mean that much.

It's not crazy at all that Utah & UCLA both win tonight. Not likely - sure...but it wouldn't be shocking. I think that would be f'n rad.

Two Pac teams in the final four. Because we all know what's happening tomorrow.

It's a lot easier to congratulate UCLA considering a second straight S16 will keep Alford in Westwood for the foreseeable future. In short, it's a lot harder for the fans who never wanted SA to get rid of him now. Looks like they'll have to get rid of him by dumping him on someone else. Wait until the Indiana job opens. As Iowa fans have educated us, he'll lobby the heck out of that.

Edit:
Oh wow, right as I wrote that Bruins Nation is all over it! (Keep in mind, what other fan base would down a coach who just led them to a S16 after coming into this season with so much uncertainty?) And BN closes their basketball season closing article with this sentiment:

Unfortunately, we'll never know what could have been if we had an Athletic Director who didn't push the panic button when replacing Ben Howland and had hired a better coach who could actually recruit enough players to fill our bench as well as an actual point guard.

Here's hoping that day comes sooner rather than later. Maybe Indiana, Tennessee or St. John's will be impressed by our back-to-back Steve-16 appearances and convince Steve Alford to go coach their team. We already know that Steve Alford will sign a contract as soon as someone makes him a better offer. The question we are left wondering is: "Is there an Athletic Director in Division I who is a bigger buffoon than Dan Guerrero?"

Go Bruins!
