It's going to be funny when Bryce calls for the ball to run the point, Lonzo gives him a 'wtf you sg' look, and Steve Alford gives Lonzo the 'get the ball to my son who as a senior needs to show his pg skills if he's going to have any chance to get drafted' look.

Lonzo is pretty unselfish. I think the bigger danger is if Alford actually sides with his son. Ball can make plays, Alford needs to shut up and let him do it.

Frankly, I worry if Lonzo is too unselfish to succeed at UCLA the way he should.

No excuse for UCLA with the ridiculous talent they get easily, to be in 9th place! I always thought Alford was a bad hire.

Nope. A bad hire and this where we are. A good hire and it's back to final fours. I hope it's made before this next class is easy rolled but it won't be. Oh well

So who does Lonzo start over next year? Because I'm pretty sure they can't start Ball, Hamilton, Holiday, and Alford.

Hamilton has to start. I don't know about any of the others. My guess is that Holiday comes off the bench but man , that D could get exposed being that small.

well Hamilton is 6'4 and Ball is 6'6 so I'm not sure why that's a small backcourt.

obviously UCLA can't play four guards but there is no way in this universe Ball doesn't start at PG from the second he arrives in Westwood.

what Alford decides to do at the other guard and wing spots will be more of the unknown.

He's good. The injuries and eligibility issues at AZ and OR have aligned perfectly for UCLA, so barring something unexpected, they have to be the favorite in the Pac this year. It would be hard to mess up that team, even for Alford.

Did they bench Bryce?

And then move him to the end of the bench?

And then transport him to the locker room?

And then fly him to Hungary?

If not, then Steve could still easily mess this up.

Bryce will always be a defensive liability, but his offense is pretty undeniable at this point. He may not shoot a high percentage, but every now and then, he heats up and quickly puts 9 points on the board, or he hits a game winner. It's what he does. Pretty sure Kadeem will be on Ball or I-Ham, so not sure who guards Bryce this year. Probably Kobi and Rawle.

I can't tell you how many Bryce defenders there are. BRO is unreadable now. Idiots who know nothing about basketball but think they do because they have been watching it passively for 75 years. Bryce finally leaving will be the ultimate addition by subtraction for UCLA. If Leaf (unlikely) and Holiday (likely) stay, and if Alford gets them to play some defense (unlikely), UCLA could have a really good team next year. In the meantime, I think this year will go only slightly better than last year did, solely because Bryce really is that much of a liability.

If Bryce being a defensive liability is the only problem UCLA has this year, it bodes very well for them.

My entire point is that you and a lot of pundits and UCLA fans are seriously underestimating how much of a problem Bryce is. I do honestly think that Bryce getting 30 minutes per game is the difference between UCLA being a top 10 team and conference championship contender (if fully healthy) and being a fringe top 25 team at best. On offense he provides nothing but extremely streaky shooting, which I don't consider valuable in today's college game, and on defense he is a GIGANTIC liability. Him being out there makes the entire defense break down as four other guys are forced to help him on every single possession.
