He probably didn't deserve it but hopefully he comes in hungry and ready to prove something - hopefully not shoot many 3s.

Can he still de-commit? With the FBI/NCAA punishment looming I'm concerned we lose both O'neal and Williams.

If he wanted to yes. At the moment there's no need to worry.

He will likely be a starter next year on a relatively strong team next year at a major program — no reason why he would decommit at this point.

I'm very curious to see how he and Miller mesh. I don't see him as a Miller guy at all, but Miller recruits many guys who you wouldn't think are his type of guy.

Why don't you see him as a Miller guy? I feel the exact opposite. He has a solid foundation and is all-character for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see him stay 3 years and graduate. Shaq is a lot of things but one thing he is above all else is a hell of a father to his kids. Shareef is exactly the kind of guy Miller wants her IMO.

Reef is joining what could potentially be a solid (but quite young) team.
PG - Williams/Barcello
SG - Randolph/Smith/Akot
SF - Reef/Akot
PF - Lee/Reef
C - Jeter
That's just a rough guess. Who knows how the lineup actually shakes out?
I mean let's face it: Oregon should be the preseason Pac favorite next year with that recruiting class. No idea what's going to happen with UCLA, but is a mass exodus and coaching change so far-fetched? USC losing key guys. ASU losing key guys. Looks like another down year for the Pac. Maybe a young, hungry AZ team can surprise people.

Brandon Williams may be the toughest dude on that team and that concerns me.

How coachable he is will certainly impact how his stay at Arizona goes. I'm not saying he's not a good kid and doesn't have a good father, but he's gotta do and play the way Miller wants him to and I'm far from certain he's going to do just that.

If we're starting Shareef at the 3, we're screwed pretty deeply. He's a stretch 4 all the way and we lack post depth.
It's Randolph, Akot and Smith on the wing, maybe some Barcello if he's ready. That would be a nice place to add some depth too with a freshman.

Fair enough, so we're looking at
Williams
Randolph
Akot
Reef
Jeter
Bench: Lee, Smith, Barcello
Will Reef start over Lee? Is he that good? Or maybe we start Lee and Reef together? Way, way too early for this forecast, but maybe not too early to say whether Reef and Williams are good enough to start from day one.

I think it will end up Shareef vs Ira for the starting spot, but we need both to be ready to play because we lack any other options at the 4/5. If they aren't both ready, we have no big man off the bench. Who starts is waaay less important than both contributing.

That makes sense. Hopefully the competition for minutes brings out the best in both of them.

Don't know about you guys, but I'm curious about Jeter. I liked his HS/AAU vids, but didn't get a feeling one way or another about his Duke play. Was "soft"(my Dukie buddies) a bad rap or not? Was it more of a "didn't meet expectations", the Duke fan malady?
What I liked was Jeter's play in the RED/Blue. Looked poised and mature, moved well, played fairly aggressively. Three for 6 in 12 mins and two blocks, no boards. He managed to pick up 5 fouls which wouldn't suggest soft play, and could also explain why he didn't get more minutes.
Any word, any thoughts?
(I see Reef's thread has turned into an 18/19 lineup talker.)

What a strange way to come into the game.
Didn't start playing until his freshman year, didn't really take note of the HOF players around him until high school.
Really hope he'll be okay with Miller's hard coaching.

Yeah he'll either swim finally playing for a good coach who pushes him, has to lift, sort of like Ayton, or he'll sink.
He's pretty good for only have played for 4 years.

Unless he knew about this before ESPN caught hold from the "source," the timestamp on that tweet was at like 5pm AZ time, and that ESPN article didn't come out until after 8pm. Not sure it's related??

Maybe he got a heads up from the staff/school. Think espn asked for a comment in the Friday morning. Of course that's if this is even related.

Brandon Williams probably next. I think we'll have 4-6 scholarship players next year. Of course that's if Akot/Randolph/others don't bounce, could be less.
