Someone was going to do it so why not Josh and Memphis:
Memphis coach Josh Pastner is expected to hire high school coach Keelon Lawson -- who is also the father of three elite recruits -- within the next few weeks, sources told ESPN.com.
The move is expected to be finalized before the end of July.
Keelon Lawson is the head coach at Hamilton High in Memphis and is the last coach to lead a city school to a state title while going unbeaten in the largest classification. Lawson, who played at UAB and LeMoyne-Owen in college, also spoke to at least two other schools -including Vanderbilt -- about potentially joining their coaching staff, sources said.
Lawson is the father of three heralded recruits. The oldest, K.J. Lawson, is a 6-foot-7 wing ranked 37th in the country by ESPN.com. He has already committed to play for Pastner at Memphis.
Dedric Lawson is a 6-8 power forward in the Class of 2016 who is ranked seventh in the country by ESPN.com. Chandler Lawson is a 6-6 wing who is ranked No. 1 overall in the Class of 2019 by one recruiting site. Jonathan Lawson is a sixth-grader who one coach said "may be the best of all of the brothers."
The family is also related to current Memphis assistant Robert Kirby.
Dedric Lawson recently told CBSSports.com, which initially reported the possibility of Pastner hiring Keelon Lawson, that he likely would commit to Memphis if his father joins the Tigers staff. The middle brother is also strongly considering Kentucky.
"That would probably seal the deal for me, to commit to Memphis," Dedric told CBSSports.com last week at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Las Vegas.
Hilarious. Let me head to Memphis message board for the full meltdown.

Remember on TOS when UA had a forgettable 2011-12 season (Hint: Seattle U) and some irrational posters went as far as to say they wanted Pastner all along...even worse, Gottfried was a better coach (yeah, during his fluke tournament run)? Boy have the tables turned.

What a shame it had to happen in front of fans known to be so much better than Arizona's too.

A really impressive start for the Pastner's today...
More turnovers than points and shooting 15% in the first 13 mins of the game...

Pastner was so busy forging recruiting ties to Texas and trying to line himself up as the successor to Lute that he forgot to use his time in Tucson to learn how to coach.

1-5. Is that going to be their record through 6 games?

I had no idea the amount of money Memphis is paying him. And he barely recruits out of the city in which he plays.
No idea if he is on the hot seat, or how hot it is, but it is going to be a long year for Memphis...and I'm not sure that there is a silver lining.

“I understand people are upset, disappointed. Ugly game,” Pastner said. “We’re sitting here 2-3. Any criticism or arrows should not go to any of our players; it should all be directed at me."

Just got home from watching a disaster. Pastner said on the radio show to blame him. Ok. Pastner you can't coach. Your team has no heart. Your team has no direction. Your team let little SFA run circles around you. Your team looks like they don't want to be out there. And to top it off, the university doesn't care. Neither do I.

Fire Pastner. That's all

Hate to say this but a change of direction on the bench is necessary. It wouldn't be much of a chore to lure Bruce Pearl away from Auburn.

Pastner was all smiles down 12 with 30 seconds left on the clock.

If I was riding that gravy train, I would smile, big smile.....

I noticed that. He's sitting there, not coaching or even watching the play (can't fault him for that), talking with an assistant and smiling as if everything is going as it should.

It's call a no buyout contract.

Pastner needs to shave his head, get some ink, and start cussing. That's his next step as a coach.

Haha
You know Calipari made me hate Memphis, as well as their delusional fans, so I like to see them suffer.
- Accept any buy out offer with open arms, especially if it's from the Fed Ex guy who sends him letters on coaching ideas.
- Get the hell out of that crime infested poop hole
- Enjoy the millions with the wife and family for about 5 years
- Lay low during said five years (with lots of vacation and family time) and pop over to different schools to see how they do things
- Go to a few recruiting events a year and keep ties with the AAU coaches
- Do a couple ESPN games and be an analyst possibly for the network
- Then after about 5 years, he will be a bit older and something will open up where he can brand himself as a different coach, taking a step back, etc.
OR, continue in a no win situation risking your career with each year that passes.
Boom goes the dynamite.

Trying to be a coach more than ever:
Tiger coach Josh Pastner made 23 substitutions in the first half of last Saturday’s win over Bradley, and this was during a half his team outscored its opponent by 14 points.
