UCLA up 3-0 Vs Hawaii with 12:00 left in the First Q in an empty seated Rose Bowl.
I'm putting UCLA's over/under win total at 8.5. Bruins have 10 or 11 SRs starting on defense and return nearly all of their skill position production from the past two seasons.
Make or break season for Chip Kelly.

Chip is gonna underwhelm and then fail up.

Was at the game. Second hottest game I can remember being at. That, COVID, quite a few years of meh football, and Hawaii as an opponent and it felt like a ghost town.

I remember being at an Arizona/UCLA game at the rose bowl in about...2010? It was Halloween I think and it was about the same. 90 and midday. Didn't help I was hungover and trying to fix that by doing shots with a bunch of Pasadena friends at 10 am. Would kill me now to do any of that.
Some of my most drunken and debauched behavior occurred from 2010-2013 in Pasadena and Manhattan Beach.

Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
Take Covid, combined with a general decline in active college sports followings across LA, and I don't know whether UCLA, even after a few years of winning seasons, gets back to the crowds from even half a decade ago when hosting Stanford, Arizona St, and Washington on a Saturday night was enough to fill the stadium blue, with a once enthused student section to boot.

Stanford seems to be hitting the wall under Shaw. Only 26-20 since 2017 and 8-11 since 2019

Oregon is so soft on the corners. They are letting Fresno St pass at will. 21-21 in the third. Blow this game and they start 0-2 because Ohio St will obliterate them next week

The PAC is looking soft today.

I would say it was smart for Andy to jump ship and take the Boise St job, but….

Ugh, Oregon needed a TD there. All tied up with 8 minutes left in regulation

Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
Oregon is beatable if you have a decent defense and can pressure the QB.
Oregon got a bit lucky today. Uniforms can’t win a game, skill and good coaching does.

Yeah. The PAC 12 south is looking pretty strong this year. We must beat Colorado this year and one other from our division.

Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
The crowd at the Rose Bowl looking much stronger this week, of course.
UCLA trading punches with LSU early on. The Bruins D hitting just as hard. I won’t be surprised if UCLA wins this. LSU’s offense still looks lost without Burrow. What has Coach O won of note without his Heisman shot-caller?

That was one of the most blatant holds I have ever seen in the UCLA game, of course not called. Luckily the LSU QB whiffed it. $EC refs.
Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread

I have a feeling Washington may not be that great this year.

Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
Back a few years ago when College Gameday was doing editorial features on strength coaches, especially the one cheerleading on the sidelines, they asked if strength coaches might ever be head coaches one day. Jimmy Lake is an example of equivalently giving your program over to a strength coach. Total disaster.

Pac 12 north is dog shit. 1-5 opening weekend with losses to Montana, Utah St, Nevada, and Purdue (picked to finish 12th in the Big10).
Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
That was one of the coolest game day experiences I have been a part of. The long build in college football almost never pays off, but I'm hoping Chip Kelly might be one of the rare exeptions.

Yeah generally the Pac 12 looked like garbage this week

Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
Stanford only amassed 233 yds of offense and were handled by K-State on both sides of the trenches. Cardinal looks pretty lifeless at this point. With a tough schedule looming - their first four conference games are currently ranked USC, UCLA, Oregon and Arizona State teams.

It's only 1 game and Stanford is always a team that could suddenly catch fire. I'd be careful about throwing dirt on them just yet.
Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
Furd just made a QB change.
Re: 2021 Pac 12 Games Thread
They should grab Kevin Doyle from the portal!

Ducks with a tidy 99 yard drive for 7-0 lead.
They got a 3 n out and pinned to one again.
