Re: Coaching Searches
Exactly what I was going to say. My daughter has not found good Mexican food since she left California in every place she has lived since marriage, HI, NC, TX and so on. She grew up on the central coast with a large Hispanic community, then San Diego in Chula Vista which is primarily Hispanic. Good Mexican food is never hard to find.gronk4heisman wrote: ↑Tue Nov 30, 2021 4:33 pm What will he ever do without that amazing Norman, OK Mexican cuisine.
That Norman restaurant is something I would not call authentic, unless it's Tex Mex based.
Re: Coaching Searches
Pretty sure he will get over it once he has Panchos near his house in Manhattan Beach.

Re: Coaching Searches
Trying to keep him away from Miami, I am not sure how we can compete when people of Cristobal's pedigree are allegedly getting $10M+ a year.

Re: Coaching Searches
I have no doubt Cristobal's agent leaked the Miami story. How many schools get played this way, all of them?

Re: Coaching Searches
Wait, are you saying Miami is looking for a coach before they have canned the current guy?

Re: Coaching Searches
Miami finally fired Manny Diaz after letting him twist in the wind all weekend like total assholes.

Re: Coaching Searches
Cristobal meeting with his players telling them he is Miami bound.
Can’t believe how the I treated Manny Diaz. Not sure what college sports has become but it certainly has crumbled in the wake of all the money

Oregon sports - Basketball team is crumbling now their FB coach is bolting to Miami.
Good to see that Uncle Phil's checkbook isn't solving all of their problems.

Re: Coaching Searches
The joke is on everybody involved in this mess except for Cristobal who will be overpaid $8M to be the Hurricanes next mediocre coach.
I don't feel sorry for Oregon who speculated replacement candidate is Chip Kelly, whom I'm sure will return to Eugene in a heartbeat. He isn't the same guy from a decade ago. Players will leave, the recruiting talent will drop, the schemes he brings aren't fresh like they were a decade ago.
CK kept UCLA mostly tame, hopefully he goes and tames Oregon.
And I won't feel sorry for Miami when they realize they are dumping $8M/yr on a coach whose limit is 9 wins. Don't give me the crap that he'll recruit well to Miami. EVERYBODY recruits well to Miami - Randy Shannon, Al Golden, Manny Diaz, Will Smith. Miami's obvious lacking factor has been development of talent and follow-thru Xs & Os coaching, which Cristobal hasn't proven.

I hope that happens. Hurts both UCLA and Oregon.

You’re that confident in his replacement, huh? Can’t wait to see how this works out.

Re: Coaching Searches
No idea. But we are a team that has hired Rock Neu and Karl Dorrell and Kelly is the worst coach, by record, in UCLA history. (FYI - I'm not as down on Kelly that most are)
If we hire Gary Anderson as replacement, then it sucks. I want to buy the hype that our AD has.

If Kansas didn't want Lanning why would Oregon?
Re: Coaching Searches

Re: Coaching Searches
Oregon has shown the have the infrastructure for any coach to succeed. Outside Beliotti, I would argue they have not had a good coach this century.

Why would they pick someone Kansas rejected? I don't understand that.
But then again, it's Kansas being Kansas, like Arizona is Arizona.

Some teams do recognize the importance of special teams. UA not one of them.

Re: Coaching Searches
For reference, we had an all Pac 12 Punter and ST player (Berryhill) and an honorable mention at kicker in Haversik who split time with another kicker who went 12-12 on FG's and 12-12 on XP's. Special teams were not really an issue this year like years past.
