A reserve lineman running off to the portal like there's a host of teams waiting for him? With two OL leaving ASU just last week, Veikoso would've had his best chance for playing time had he stayed in Tempe.

We're hearing about all the players drawn to the portal through NIL money, such as Caleb Williams and Spencer Rattler, but what about the host of players who realize too late that not only does no program want them but their former team doesn't have to take them back or restore the scholarship they pulled? It leaves a lot of players committing to couches as potatoes.

Jones is an excellent athlete, but inaccurate passer. He completed over 60% last year at Florida, but most of those were short passes, screens, and quick hitches. When he tried to throw downfield, he got picked. 13 ints last year.

Jones put up his numbers in a spread option O that features the QB. Dan Mullen was the coach. Herm's offense is more reliant on the run, and Daniels made a lot of plays scrambling on 3rd and long. Get Jones in 3rd and long, and contain his ability to run, and you'll see more ints than Daniels threw last year.

Police in Scottsdale, Arizona, have charged Arizona State football player Stanley Lambert with driving under the influence after a pedestrian was struck by a car and later died from her injuries, according to local reports.

Police say that a car struck a 23-year-old woman as she crossing a road in Old Town Scottsdale around 1:38 a.m. on Saturday. The car's driver was allegedly identified as Lambert. Scottsdale police arrested Lambert on one count of DUI/impaired to the slightest degree and one count of DUI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more.

Police released Lambert amid an ongoing investigation and pending lab results. Lambert could face additional charges depending on the outcome of the investigation. Arizona State acknowledged the incident in a statement.

“We are aware of the tragic situation over the weekend involving one of our student-athletes," the statement reads. "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all involved. We are still gathering information and we do not have any other statement at this time.”

Lambert, a redshirt senior, is a defensive lineman for the Sun Devils. He's appeared in 14 games as a backup, recording four tackles and two sacks.

For anyone on here like myself who might be regulars of the Scottsdale nightlife, Fridays and Saturdays after midnight are pretty chaotic with all the out-of-towners and parties for golfing trips, weddings, and the younger clubbing crowds converging on Old Town. As the night starts dying down around 130am or 2am, the combined volume of pedestrians, people riding drunk on scooters, and the lineups of Ubers make for a pretty congested exit along Scottsdale BLVD. Traffic fatalities such as this are unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence in Scottsdale.

Scout had ASU's 2022 signing class ranked 103rd nationally with only nine total signees. It helps that ASU brought 14 transfers but it's not a sign of a stable program when you're signing more transfers than longer term prep talent.

And this year ASU has only 1 commit so far. It's looking like 2 straight poor signing classes for ASU. 1 down class is common and able to overcome later but 2 straight bad years is a pattern that compounds into an overall weakened roster.

Short-term, I guess maybe you can maintain mediocrity with the transfer portal, but the foundation's rotting away. Meanwhile, Hurley is 60-67 in career league play and 3-11 in the rivalry with 2 one-and-done NCAA seasons out of 7. Charli quit, rather than to continue being slapped by Adia, and was replaced by a no-name. They just lost their softball coach, and literally the whole team transferred away. Too soon to tell with Bloomquist, but not a particularly auspicious start. Ah, well, I guess they can focus on more important things...like rasslin' and women's rowing.
