Re: Conference Realignment
Can't imagine the ABOR will go for that since they are the ones that mandated that ASU and UA alternate playing NAU.
is playing eight conference games, one home game and one away game against the other two conferences.
Unless it's 1 game for each conference, making a total of 10 games, giving the UA one FCS and one mid-major.

Re: Conference Realignment
As far as I know we're still mandated by the state to play NAU at least 1 in every 3 years.
i was going to put the ua/asu records here...but i forgot what they were.
i'll just go with fuck asu.

That was pretty good.
Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

This is a good move for a soon-to-be third rate conference.

Re: Conference Realignment
I still think it appropriate to say fuck Larry Scott. If he’d have done his job, this wouldn’t be happening.
Edit, should the Arizona Schools now look towards the Big 12?

Re: Conference Realignment
Could see UofA, asu, Utah & Colorado going to the Big 12.

Well...this sucks. Afraid AZ football will be left in the dust.
Re: Conference Realignment
The Big-10 might get 14 teams into the NCAA tournament at this rate
Re: Conference Realignment
Could very well be a powerplay for more money for the LA schools too
Re: Conference Realignment
If this happens, I am done with college sports.
Re: Conference Realignment
That was my 1st thought bug. How do the schools divy up the money now?
Re: Conference Realignment
I'm pissed, but not at all surprised. At least this would end the illusion that the Pac is a power conference. Hope Robbins/Heeke have some brains and are coming up with a plan to get us to the Big 12.
Hope we can still schedule UCLA in basketball every year. We need to keep that rivalry in tact.

I hope UCLA enjoys their Wednesday night volleyball match at Rutgers.

Re: Conference Realignment
So much for the solidarity between the PAC Schools and the B1G

Fuck, this blows
Re: Conference Realignment
USC playing at Penn at 7 am pacific Or OSU basketball starting at 10pm eastern sounds like a blast for the kids.

Re: Conference Realignment
Could be that or it could simply be that the LA schools are going to get a hell of a lot more money being in the B1G than in the P12, no matter how the P12 divys up the money.
We'll know for sure very quickly.
Robbins needs to move quickly to get the UA into the Big12 if the LA schools bolt for the B1G.......I can't see any better option for the UA

Re: Conference Realignment
Let's look at the bright side. We won't have to put up with Bill Walton or his "Conference of Champions" talk for much longer.

Re: Conference Realignment
Can't imagine any P5 conference wanting a football team with 1 tainted win along with another school predicted to finish last in the PAC with a lame duck coach. Football is where the money is at.
They already have Kansas to be a doormat football program.
Along with the B12 losing both Texas and Oklahoma. They will already have 14 teams too with the replacement schools.
Re: Conference Realignment
If the LA schools bolt the dominoes will begin to fall.
Either the P12 is going to raid the B12 in order to survive.......or the B12 is going to raid the P12.
Will be interesting to see who moves first.

Re: Conference Realignment
I grew up in Ann Arbor and Atlanta, rooting for Michigan and Georgia. Went to games at the Big House and between the hedges. Was in attendance for the largest football crowd in American history, at the time.
Then I decided to go to Arizona in '03 and college football has been the ruiner of my sports fandom ever since. Fuck this sport.

Re: Conference Realignment
I can't argue with your logic. I believe that the UA needs to be proactive and look after its own interests. The P12 is not going to do that.Merkin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 30, 2022 12:15 pmCan't imagine any P5 conference wanting a football team with 1 tainted win along with another school predicted to finish last in the PAC with a lame duck coach. My nightmare Melt-Down scenario is the B12 taking Oregon/Washington/Utah/ASU and leaving us out in the cold to join a conference of leftovers (P12 + MWC)

Re: Conference Realignment
Happening very quickly too.
I can see this, Oregon is much more desirable of a program than either AZ school.

Pac was already flirting with being a mid-major. This makes it all but official.

What the fuck just happened?
My daughter is going to Michigan so I guess my rooting against the LA schools will continue.

Re: Conference Realignment
The other thing about this is that all indications are the Pac-12 was completely blindsided by this. I was speaking to George Kliavkoff, their commissioner, throughout this week because July 1 is his one-year anniversary, and he's in Montana on vacation. He was trying to be off the grid this week. So there was no indication that he saw any of this coming in multiple conversations that I had with him."

Re: Conference Realignment
I could totally be wrong, but wouldn't ABOR have to approve UA and/or ASsU jumping to another conference? Or would each school be able to do that independently?
