Speaking of riavals, errr rivals :) , UA owes OK State a couple of beat downs for the times that Justin Blockman destroyed Arizona.

Although am sorry to hear that Blockman ended up being one of the biggest busts in NFL due to his addiction issues. Blockman was cocky, but had the skills to back it up.

Can't remember ever playing Baylor in anything.

Their coach Dave Aranda is listed as sitting on one of the hottest coaching seats going into the season.

2021: 12-2 #6 winners of the Sugar Bowl
2022: 6-7
2023: 3-9

Looking it up, UA FB lost to Baylor 20-15 in 1992 in their only meeting.

MBB is 5-5 losing the last 2 last games, last played in 2019, first in 1947.

Yuck ... I went to that Sun Bowl in '92. Beautiful El Paso, with cold rain the whole game. The Star listed all these supposedly good bars and restaurants, but they were all complete crap. It was Grant Teaff's last game as Baylor's coach after 20 years there, so his players wanted to win it for him. They had a tall receiver named Melvin Bonner, and Tomey had his 5-8 corners out on their islands, so Baylor did a lot of lob-and-catch to Bonner. Meanwhile, we had George Malauulu pretty much handing off. Aside from a bad game, I've got nothing against Baylor fans, although it's a negligible sample size. Colorado fans, on the other hand, seem like they're on meth these days, seething on an endless ice rage over the reflected notoriety from Coach Prime following 17 of 18 losing seasons. Apologies in advance to the rest of the Big XII.

I was in El Paso 1992 too. Ugly game in the rain and cold. Couldn't punch it in from the 1 if I remember correctly, and that cost us the game. Most entertaining part was the Frisbee catching dog at half time.

92 Sun Bowl, commercials and all.

Who was the OC at the 3:16 mark? Glad Tomey stayed out of it. George M just couldn't do it.

I was there as well. My girlfriend (now wife) was in the band, so I met her out there. I was a junior at the UA and my sister let me borrow her Toyota Turbo MR2 for the trip. I had a good time other than the loss.

I was in the band. That's why I went. We had fun, but the food was awful. Accommodations subpar, and they planned a NYE party for us at a bowling alley, with no open lanes to bowl.

What I do remember, instead of making an outline of Arizona during pregame, with Wilbur standing in Tucson, we did Texas, and Wilbur was supposed to stand in El Paso. About 30 seconds before we stepped off, we asked Wilbur if he knew of the change. He had no clue. I told him to stand in the far left corner near the angle. And when the time came for Don (voice of the Pride) to say, "And now representing El Paso..." Wilbur walked up, full of confidence, like he knew what he was doing!

A few weeks later, before a basketball game, the guy who played Wilbur made a point to thank us for telling him where El Paso was on the map.

You reminded me of a Wilbur story from my UofA days.

1985 - 'Cats make their first NCAA tourney in years and are playing Alabama in Albuquerque at The Pit at the start of Spring Break.

My best friend, my roommate, and I bought tickets and were going to drive up in my best friend's car.

The guy playing Wilbur lived in our dorm. He asked my friend for a ride. He actually said no, my friend had a tiny Mazda GLC, no room for him or Wilbur's head LOL.

Can't believe the University was so cheap back then Wilbur had to arrange for his own transportation. I actually don't remember if he made it up there on his own.

Of the 12 coaches, Rush picked the one whose fans have the deepest passion, the longest memories, the greatest lung capacity and … did I mention deep passion?

Starting to think it isn't Gundy that makes Oklahoma State seem weird. It's Oklahoma State that's making Gundy weird:

I give them credit for teaching college kids about consent.

But wow that was weird as hell.

Texas Tech is off to a rough start, defeating Abilene Christian 52-51 before getting routed by Washington State 37-16 last Saturday.

For both Arizona schools, who play TT in October, I'm thinking TT now looks like an easier win than what the preseason experts predicted, generally ranking TT 40-50th nationally.

Considering our play so far this season, there will be no such thing as an easy win for us.
