How do you know if a thread topic has reached the Apocalypse?

When you start citing Camus.

Blow it up arizona….just do it.

Think strategically- push Oregon’s hand and force asu to shit or get off the pot.

Just think how good that will feel.

Just do it.

Agreed.

At this point it looks like a game of chicken between UA - UO/UW. Each side wants the other to act first so they don't get blamed for
"Killing the PAC9 Conference"

And I'm sure that UO/UW are trying to extort more money out of the B1G

The consensus amongst Big Ten fans from another board I frequent is that pursuing Washington/Oregon without first going all out for a combination of FSU/ND/Miami/Clemson/UNC is a BIG MISTAKE. They are hoping that B1G is baiting Washington/Oregon as a smokescreen for poaching from the ACC no matter how locked down those ACC contracts are with ESPN.

Can we get another Sartre or Camus quote? Or for someone just as pessimistic I raise you Arthur Schopenhauer - possibly he was also frustrated by conferences eventually cannibalizing each other:

"The pain in the world always outweighs the pleasure. If you don't believe it, compare the respective feelings of two animals, one of which is eating the other."

So does the UA await the official B1G invitation for UO/UW and then use that as the excuse to jump to the B12 or does Robbins just pull the plug now?

Going to Big10 is the right choice for Oregon /Washington
Going to Big 12 is the right choice for AZ (ASU / Utah?)

But it makes me really sad because this never should have happened. Shitty Pac leaders / School presidents led to this. There is no way the Pac should be inferior to these other conferences...and yet here we are

EastCoastCat wrote: Fri Aug 04, 2023 5:18 am And another point about ASSU and the CFP...

If the "Pac 8" remains as is no way ASSU leapfrogs either Oregon, Washington or Utah to get a bid if the current CFP contract is not amended.

And if those schools depart you no longer have a power conference anyway if the PAC decides to bring in MWC or WCC schools as replacements.

So the thought that ASSU is reconsidering leaving the PAC to somehow put themselves in a better "championship" position would be the dumbest move in a conference that is already infamous for dumb moves.
Not really a surprise with idiot Crow running things. Guy is partially responsible for the PAC of shit we see today. His forward thinking is on par with Jehovah Witnesses.

There is actually some logic in the B12 taking Stanford & SDSU. They would get two West coast teams in the SoCal/Bay area markets

With ORWA gone, there's nothing left for us in the PAC. If Utah and ASu want to remain with the Bays, PWN States, and a bunch of G5 schools, let them. There's no future for a west coast based conference without the LA schools and ORWA. ORWA going B1G also means the BIG12 will likely remain ESPN's 4th window conference not only for the next contract, but beyond. Again, without LA or ORWA, the ESPN isn't going to pay a SEC premium for the remaining west coast teams.

The last question for ORWA is how much of a share they get to start. At half share, WA was complaining that's a major issue, because they expect an extra $10 million in travel costs. And half share of $60 million ($30 million - $10 million extra travel ) equals out to $20 million. Which is what UW would make in the PAC. Now, if it's a ladder situation where ORWA get 1/2 to start, and full share by year 5, ORWA still comes out way ahead. Additional travel costs is why ORWA were never considering the BIG12. It's not as big a concern for the 4-corner schools, with BYU and our closer proximity to Texas and the midwest.
